I convinced myself that we would not spend too much time over there. I didn't really want them to see me in fear that they would chase after me and cause a ruckus. We were right next to the car, so close to my escape, but of course I had to go and ruin it. My mind is too powerful even for me...
While Mikey sighed, his warm breath curling around my ear, he started pushing me towards the mall. It was only one parking lot over so it wasn't that far.
My wheelchair hardly made any noise as it ran over the cold pavement. My hands rested on my lap while I stared heavily at the mall. The three targets were still in the corner of my eye, but they were moving farther away by the second. We would have to speed up to catch them...
We were only a couple feet away now, closing the gap ever slow slightly. My mind was swimming with questions, which ones I was paying attention to.... That's a whole other story.
We were also getting close to these so called posters that I saw them hanging up. They weren't much, just some printed out text and a phone number. I couldn't get to see the whole thing because Mikey turned closer to the mall.
"Ahh..." The small sound escaped from my lips catching Mikey's attention. He turned towards me and frowned a little. I regretted doing that instantly, I didn't like seeing him like that.
I stretched a hand up, stroking his cheek. A smile started to spread across his face and he turned back to face the mall.
Once we got closer to it a turned my head around to try to get another glimpse of my friends. All I got thought was my face in Mikey's chest. With small pebbles now being heard under the wheels of this contraption, it was safe to say that we were entering the mall's parking lot. I guess I was going shopping today also...
Two freshly cleaned glass doors stood in front of me. The sun shined off the glass, giving it a bright crystal light. I had to close my eyes quickly to block the thing but it didn't cause me much pain.
A small laugh came from behind me as Mikey pushed me through the doors. We entered the mall on the first floor, but escalators could be seen in the distance. I wasn't even paying attention to which store we entered, but from all the red everywhere I can assume it was Target.
The sound of people chatting and the occasional whining child filled my ears. It honestly could give me a headache, but I got to pretend like I want to be here. I was the one who told him that anyways. Actually school was starting soon and I could get some paraphernalia for that.
I sighed, probably sounding really bored, but it didn't seem to bother Mikey. He actually smiled and ruffled my hair like I was a little kid. I didn't hate it though... He really knew how to make me happy.
My voice sounded somewhat different as I giggled. It was like something had come over me, something blissful. I didn't know what it was but it did feel good. Any normal person would want more of it, but I wasn't greedy. I only took what I needed.
My wheelchair made a small "click-clack" sound as it ran over the rough creases in the floor. It was annoying, but calming at the same time. What an oxymoron.... I guess I was just getting use to the sound. It was the same as the sound of a suitcase in the airport.
Instantly to our left were a bunch of kid's clothing. Girls were exactly to the left and boys were a bit in head of us. That's not where I needed to go....
I looked around a little more. The now scent of freshly buttered popcorn filled my nostrils. It smelled good, but I just ate. I couldn't possibly be hungry, could I?
To the right was the checkout zone. They had self checkouts and places where people will scan and bag your groceries for you. I've never seen a place that you could check out your own bags...
