If you looked up the word distracted in the dictionary, Holland Richmond was the current definition.
Throughout every class the entire day, she really did try her best to give it her full attention. Her mind had other plans, bombarding her with the memory of Luke standing in front of her, his finger about to trail down her lips. The memory filled her with a feeling she hadn't felt before, not even with her ex, until she realized that Luke couldn't touch her lips. Not with his fingers, and not with his own. He'd never be able to touch her.
This silly crush she was harboring was just that: a silly crush. It would pass, like all things would.
Julie and Flynn looked up with smiles as Holland finally entered their dance class, all three girls now clad in their black dresses for the dance scene.
"Someone seems distracted," Flynn teased as Julie motioned for her to stop. She had of course noticed how distracted their friend had been all day, and she knew why, but she didn't want to push it. If Holland wanted to talk about it, she would come to them.
Holland only shot Flynn a look before her attention was directed to the doors, where the lacrosse team was currently entering. She sighed, looking up at the ceiling as if pleading for help.
"I just want to get this over with,"
Pairing off and taking their places in the room, Mason's eyes stayed locked on Holland as she stared at the front of the room, ignoring his glances.
"You look gorgeous," the girl scoffed, rolling her eyes.
"Yeah? Bet you told Kayla that before you made-out with her, right?"
Mason closed his eyes, trying to calm himself down as the teacher told them to take their places. He positioned himself behind Holland, leaning down to her ear as his hands went to her waist.
"I'm going to do whatever it takes to make it up to you, Holland,"
"What you're going to do is keep your hands above the equator before I cut them off,"
"Breathe in, shake out your nerves, and surrender to the music and your partner. Here we go!"
The music set in through the speakers as Holland went through the motions of the beginning of the dance, no passion to her moves and now expression on her face either as she moved.
A hand grabbed her own, spinning her out and back into their chest. Holland looked up at them, like she was supposed to, as her eyes widened to see herself standing in the arms of Luke himself.
"Have you been holding out on me, Holls?" he teased as he spun her out again, doing the jump choregraphed for himself as he got down onto his knees, holding out his hands for her to take. "You don't just sing like an angel, you dance like one too."
A genuine smile lit up Holland's face as she took his hands, dancing back and forth to the beat like she had practiced all week. She focused on his hands, the way he touched her. Warm, light, callused fingers on her skin. It was everything she had ever dreamed it would be.
