Holland was going to have to thank Reggie, because his leather jacket was quickly becoming a staple item in her closet for almost every single one of her outfits.
Standing next to Flynn in the small crowd of their peers from school, the pair were waiting for the studio doors to open up and for Julie to kickstart the show. She had been successfully in avoiding the boys, mainly Luke, since yesterday morning but was now dreading that the small performance was just minutes away. She wasn't sure if she could stick to Flynn's advice, not with Luke right in front of her.
She gazed around at the party, seeing Nick standing and talking to Carrie in the back near where Julie's dad was setting up equipment to film the show. Her eyes trailed toward the punch bowl, seeing that Mason was standing beside it (though he was definitely NOT invited). He gave her a 'charming' smile as she rolled her eyes, turning away.
"We're going to stick to the plan, right?" Flynn questioned her as they stood off to the side of the studio, where they could see the performance and the crowd all at once. Holland nodded, just staring at Julie's piano as it sat outside the doors. "Not going to look into his ghost eyes, right?"
"Yes, Flynn, I got it,"
The girl gave an eyeroll, jabbing Holland in the side as she laughed, before she left to grab a spare microphone and address the crowd.
"What's up everybody!" Everyone cheered for Flynn as she waved at them. "Time to put your hands up, do a little dance, yup. Here's the new anthem from Julie and the Phantoms."
Holland cheered loudly as Julie's brother Carlos and one of his friends opened the doors for Julie, the crowd cheering as she walked out and waved to everyone. Flynn rejoined Holland's side, cheering on her friend.
"Thanks for coming everyone," Julie addressed the crowd, taking a seat at her mic at the piano. She looked over to Holland, flashing her a grin. "And special thanks to the songwriter that helped put this one together."
Holland grinned as Flynn threw an arm around her, both smiling as they watched their friend begin the song, the familiar notes on the piano ringing out.
"Running from the past, tripping on the now. What is lost can be found, it's obvious," Julie smiled as she looked up to her dad's camera. "And like a rubber ball, we come bouncing back. We all got a second act, inside of us..."
The familiar beat drop hit as the fake hologram machine kicked on, the boys appearing behind Julie as the band kicked in, the crowd going nuts for them. Holland could feel eyes on her the entire time, but she kept her gaze on Julie and Reggie as she sang along.
"I believe, I believe that we're just one dream away from who we're meant to be. That we're standing on the edge of," Julie sang her heart out, turning and jamming out with each of the boys separately. "Something big, something crazy our best days are yet unknown. That this moment is ours to own. Cause we're standing on the edge of great!"
