(just so you know...I listened to Ghost of You by 5SOS on repeat for this...also peep my edit)
Holland wished she had something to say to herself right now, something to lift her spirits, but she had nothing. She felt empty. She wished she could plaster on a smile and feel excited like Julie, but she couldn't. Julie had her dad and Carlos to help her feel better right now. The three people that could make Holland feel better were gone forever.
She put her car into park in front of the Molina house, pulling in just minutes after Julie and her family had. With the car off, she sat in silence, just staring off into the night. If there was something to describe how she felt...it was numb.
The girl had changed quietly in the dressing room of the Orpheum, not once saying a word as Flynn watched her in concern. Dress, makeup, it was all discarded and replaced by her favorite pair of jeans, shirt, and Luke's sweatshirt hugging her body.
She pulled the ends of blue sweatshirt over her hands as the car began to get cold, bringing them up to her face as she inhaled the scent of it. Holland brought her hands back to her lap, smiling with tear filled eyes as she looked at the sweatshirt. The stupid piece of cloth that had started it all.
Her eyes trailed to her passenger seat, a tear slipping silently down her cheek and falling from her chin as her eyes landed on Luke's flannel jacket thrown haphazardly over the seat. Holland's hand was shaky as she reached over, taking the clothing article in her hand and pulling it into her lap.
She laid it out over her chest, covering herself like a blanket as she buried her head into it, finally letting herself break down.
Her sobs racked her body as she let out a small scream of pure heartbreak and pain into the jacket, clutching it to her like it would bring him back. Bring them all back. Her body shook as she let out every single tear that was left in her body, desperately clutching at the jacket to bring her some kind of comfort.
As her tears slowed, Holland pulled the jacket away from her face. She gave it a small smile, running her fingers over it.
"It was a privilege to have my heart broken by you, Luke Patterson,"
She sat there alone for a little while, allowing herself to calm down as she just stared out the window and into the night sky, cradling the jacket to her the entire time.
It was the sound of Julie knocking on her window that brought her out of her trance. Holland tilted her head in confusion, seeing the tears stained on her cheeks and the smile on her lips as she stepped out of the car and looked at her friend.
"Julie-"
"There's not a lot of time," Julie choked out, grabbing her head as she tugged on Holland's arm. "Just come with me."
Holland was hesitant as Julie led her down to the studio. She couldn't bare to go in there, not yet. She needed to heal, to let go of the three boys that changed her life before she could step foot in there, but Julie didn't give her a choice.
