"Cora-san doesn't want to leave either." He grumbled.
"Then what are you going to do? Just wait for some mafia man to come kill you because you were too much of an idiot to understand that you had to leave?" You snapped at him, feeling your eyes tearing up.
"We can't leave."
"Please let us help you."
"I don't know what to do." He sighed, looking into your eyes and noticing you were almost crying. "(Y/N)..."
"Please let us help you." You whispered, voice cracking from the idea of your friend gone. Seeing you break down like that for him made him very sad. He was exhausted, he had been overthinking every single thing he did for a couple of days and he had to try and seem strong for his adoptive father. He couldn't hold it any longer and felt his own eyes watering too.
"They are going to find us anyways if we leave, (Y/N)." He said in a raspy voice. "We have nowhere to go." You stared at him in tears, not knowing what in the world you could do against a mafia boss. Suddenly, you got an idea.
"Law, what if you hide in our house by the lake? At least in the meantime until police gets to them." You eyed him in hope of finding a way of helping him out, his eyes glistening in realization.
"Would that be fine?" He asked hopefully.
"Yes! Of course Pops wouldn't mind!" You smiled at him, standing up to hug him tightly. It felt like a weight had been lifted from both of your chests. He was going to be just fine, at least for a while.
"Thank you (Y/N). You have no idea how happy Cora-san is going to be." He hugged you back kissing the top of your head. You pulled away to hold his face with your hands, something that would always comfort him. You were very close, noses almost gracing each other, but you were used to it. Even though you had been in a relationship a couple of years ago, there was no awkwardness between you two, you cared for the other too much to allow that. You had even agreed to not mention your dating past because it just felt wrong. You were like brother and sister.
"(Y/N)?" Asked a deep voice filled with anger.
Shit.
"Zoro!" You said, turning around with your eyes wide open and peeling yourself off of Law.
"So is this why you couldn't come to the dojo? You were making out with your old boyfriend?" He spat angrily at you, eyes burning in rage and tinged with sadness.
"No! Zoro it's not like that." From his angle it would've looked like you were kissing Law, of course he'd be mad at you.
"Yeah I guess I was an idiot for believing you'd be over him after you couldn't tear yourself away from him that night." He started walking away with a scowl, feeling his heart shattering inside his chest with every step he took away from you.
What?! Oh, the party? I was drunk!
"No! Zoro, just listen." You said going over to grab him by the arm, tears already running silently down your face, afraid to lose the love of your life over something so stupid and that you could've easily avoided.
"Why did you lie anyways?" He snapped, pushing you brusquely off him.
"Zoro..." Your voice broke, feeling a little broken from this fight. He pushed you away, almost disgusted by you, and his eyes made you hurt even more. You shouldn't have lied to him for fucks sake. "Please just let m-"
"I'm leaving." He huffed, eyeing at your friend and then back at you as he left, making his way over to his car.
"Wait!" You said, going after him, but Law stopped you.
"Don't go after him." He frowned.
"Let me go." You commanded, staring at him with fire in your eyes. Zoro was disappointed at you right now and you had to make him feel better and get things right.
"You didn't pay your coffee." He said nonchalantly.
"What?!" You screeched, ready to tear his eyes out as your boyfriend was getting away, and it didn't help that he was holding you by your waist.
"I'm kidding." He rolled his eyes, not liking the dramatic little scene you had put up. "He can't react like that just because you're with a friend." He huffed.
"It's not that, I lied to him about you and forgot that I was going to meet up with him at the dojo." You said, eyes, once again, teary. You didn't like to make Zoro mad and you were now feeling very guilty. Like trash.
"Oh, he should be mad then." He smirked at you, somehow finding your petty situation quite amusing.
"Law let me go!" You said wiggling while you tried to loosen his grip on you, but he didn't budge.
"(Y/N) it's fine! Give him some time to think things over and calm down. Come on, he's been in love with you his whole life! I'm sure he won't just drop your relationship because of this." He said, smirk now gone as he tried to compose himself for your sake.
Fucking gothic asshole.
"Alright." You mumbled, deciding to text him some apologies and explanations and go see him once the Law issue was over. "I'll call Pops to let him know you'll be staying in the lake house."
After settling things with Law and lending him your key, and two hours later from the incident, you finally checked your messages to text Zoro and found that he had sent you some earlier.
From: Mossy
Left the dojo early, meet you at home.
I'll bring some cake over, what was that bakery you said you liked?
Nvm I just remembered.
They had all been sent at around 12:00. He was going to go get you sweets from the cafe when he found you. He knew that it was your favorite.
Fuck. I'm the worst girlfriend ever.
Deciding that you should better call him, you marked his number several times, but he didn't answer.
Shit!
You were now very mad at yourself. Your chest hurt with the idea of Zoro being mad at you, but it had been your fault anyways. You got the keys of your car and decided that it would be smarter to just go talk to him at his house.
