The once secret base of the Octarian Army was now in ruins, all of their ink that filled the area as a lake now drained from the chaos and destruction of the last confrontation with DJ Octavio revealing Octarian sculptures and other structures that might be considered lovecraftian in a more beautiful sense. All the stations once occupied by the Octoling Elites were now vacant and the power to everything was slowly fading away. In the shadows of the structures, a ninja was hopping from ledge to wall hauling in two others until he landed into one of the open stationed houses up top.

It had been hours since he woke up and it made things worse on his body when carrying Kappei and Emma. Burton was on the verge of shutting down, no food or water- he should have gotten some provisions before leaving. But that would mean fighting Ron and his own ninja, and he's in no condition to do anything but rest. After just looking at his surroundings, it was clear that he and the others are in the future- a future where humanity didn't survive. The chambers he made in the lab were first made as rejuvenation capsules, it could've changed the tides of battle back then but it seemed that it took too long to heal everyone; they were supposed to be called Regen Tanks used to recover from fatal injuries.

The Regen Tanks were supposed to take approximately 5 minutes to heal their occupants, he theorizes that the power source to use them was tampered with during the Battle of Eagle City. This must have slowed the process by an impossible amount of time, and judging by the state of things while he was running away they've been gone for way too long. He knew about the presence of the Gum Aliens, but he only scoffed them off as something minor and now he and all of the world suffered for it. The apocalypse happened, humanity's extinct, and now Ron's on the move, but for what!

"What's the point!?" said Burt with the weakest scream ever. "Is he trying to make a new world order? How Barbaric!!" His body may be weak but he can still squirm and whine like a baby, yet still not enough to stand up. As he prattles on about Ron's ulterior motives, Gumchi rises from the abyss with Van and the gumball machine in tow. He was about to reach his limit and feels like he's about to explode from all the huffed up air inside. The gumwad had no other choice but to make landing and spotted a shack right above with noises coming out of it.

While complaining about his machines turning into literal time capsules, he sensed a large object wafting towards him. Unable to move he braces for anything. When he opens his eyes again, Gumchi's inflated face stares down at him. As he notices, Gumchi's brows furrowed in anger down at him. "What?" he asked rudely. In response, the living gum blimp heaves himself and blows all the air out right at Burton's face, forcing him to face a jet stream of old stale gum odor. This went on for eight minutes from a decreasing smell of wind current to a gumwad spitting raspberries at him. "Done?" After he was done, he huffed and hopped off of Burt's chest and left Van unconscious between his legs in a mischievous position. "Hey! Get'm off me!!"

Gumchi waddles up to Kappei, missing his first friend in centuries. Aside from Van, Kappei was his very first best friend ever since they both left their grandfather's village. He remembers Kappei and Van quickly became best friends when they met and played basketball in the WNA Academy. Gumchi too grew to like him as much as Kappei. The only people he didn't trust was Ron, that crazy maniac Lucy, and the nerd trying to move away from his napping captor. After his reminiscent time was up, Gumchi jabbers at Burt angrily. "What!? What are you talking about?" Burton's time around the little gum-based anomaly made him somehow understand him intuitively.

Gumchi blames him for starting this entire mess in the first. "How is it my fault?! All I did was analyze one of the extraterrestrial gums for science!" Gumchi's gibberishes about leaving he gummy murderers to rot away in oil, yet this dumb nerd wanted to mess with the laws of outer space nature and aggitated the other aliens. "How was I suppose to know that they were all connected somehow? I thought they had independent thoughts." The flaring gumwad points out that they do, but they follow a hivemind and the reason why he ran away from home.
