Love in a Box

She's tired

"Danny, what is it?  Is she okay?!"

"That was her sister. She said her blood pressure and heart rate dropped really low during the night."

"Oh my gosh, well did they get it under control? Is she gonna be alright?"

"They were able to stabilize her heart, but some tests came back and it shows her kidneys aren't working well."

"What? Her kidneys? What does her kidneys have to do with it?"

"At this point no one knows, baby. The doctors are still trying to figure out what this thing even is."

Jessica then sits on the ground and covers her face with her hands.

Danny hears her crying and sits beside her for comfort.

"Baby, I know this is hard. We both love Sarah, but she's like a sister to you. I know you miss her."

"I do. I just want her to be alright. I want to visit her, Danny! I hate this stupid thing, I can't even see my best friend! It's been months and she's just there suffering all alone!"

Danny held Jessica in his arms. He hated seeing her so upset.

"Sarah's strong, Jess. She can get through this."

"But she's tired, Danny. What if her body just gives up? How am I supposed to live without my best friend?"

"Don't think like that. She's going to be okay."

After a few minutes just pops her head up and gasps.
"The test!"

"Oh gosh, I forgot!"

Jessica runs over and grabs it.
"There's only one line. That means not pregnant, right?"

Danny reads the back of the box. "Yeah it means it's negative."

"Oh! Wow, okay then!" Jessica giggles softly.

"That's good! I'm sorry for the scare Danny, it's just that I'm never late so I just assumed I was pregnant."

"Baby girl, please don't apologize. I'm glad you told me." Danny then wraps his arms around Jessica.

"How do you feel about it?" He asks.

"I feel okay. You?"

"I'm fine. I would have been happy if it were positive though."

Jessica looks up to Danny with a smile.
"Yeah?"

"Yeah! I'd love a little baby that's a mixture of us.
I mean look at us, we're adorable! Imagine that on a little baby!"

Jessica laughs. "Well one day we'll have one.... Right? You're not gonna leave me after this pandemic is over, are you?" Jessica pouts.

"No baby, we're stuck like glue now!"

Jessica giggles and kisses Danny's lips.
