Later that day.
"Danny, let's just go tell our parents. I need to take my mind off of Sarah. I can't lay in bed and cry all day, I have to do something!"
"Well let's go and make those old folks day!" Danny smiles.
Jessica laughs and nods her head.
"We haven't been anywhere.. do you think if we wear our masks we can go inside?""That's up to you, babe. Your parents haven't left the house, we have but just to the grocery store.."
"I have to tell them in person!"
"If that's what you want, I'm fine with it."
**
Danny and Jessica drove to her parents house.
Jessica spoke to her mother so they were aware they would be coming in."Oh Jessie! Look at you! I miss you so much!" Dorothy cries.
"I miss you too, mom!"
"Daniel." Albert nods.
"Hello, sir!"
"Daddy, how are you today?" Jessica smiles.
"It depends on what you're about to tell me."
Jessica laughs nervously.
"I'm sweating." Danny says quietly. "He hates me."
"Shh!" Jessica elbows him.
"What's going on?" Dorothy giggles.
"Well.. I'm pregnant!" Jessica smiles.
"Ahhh! I knew it! Didn't I tell you that's why they were coming over here? Honey, I'm so happy for you!" Dorothy hugged her daughter tightly.
"Aw thank you, momma!"
"How far along are you?"
"I'm twelve weeks!"
"Oh my gosh I'm so happy! A little grand baby!"
"Aw! I'm so glad you're happy, mom!"
Jessica then turns to her father and smiles.
"Daddy.. are you happy?""Come with me, Jessie."
Jessica took a deep breath and followed her father.
"You're not okay with this, are you?"
"I didn't say that. Are you planning on marrying Danny?"
"No! Not now at least! I want to marry Danny, but I want to do it on our own time. I don't want to rush things."
"You're having his baby, Jessica!"
"Daddy, please! I don't want this right now. I want you to be happy for us!"
"I am, Jessica. I just feel like you should do what is right."
"Oh and forcing me down the aisle is what's right?"
Just then Dorothy walks in.
"Al! Stop causing Jessie stress! What are you doing?"
"I just wanted to know if she were big to marry him."
"You and your old fashioned ways! Leave her alone and stop ringing wedding bells in her face!"
"Daddy, I just want you to be happy for me." Jessica cries. "I've been lonely for so long, and now I'm happier than I've ever been in my life.. and it's all because of Danny! We're having a baby together.. your grand baby!"
"Jessie.. my little girl."
"I'm not a little girl anymore, daddy. Danny and I are so in love and happy. This baby is such a blessing to us."
Albert takes a deep breath before hugging his daughter.
"I'm gonna be a poppy again."
"You are! The baby's gonna love his poppy!"
"It's a boy?!" Dorothy shouts.
"Oh no, we don't know yet! I guess it just slipped out." Jessica giggles.
"Danny! Come in here!" She calls out for him.
"I'm sorry." Danny says walking in with a scared look on his face.
"Stop it! It's okay." Jessica laughs.
Albert shakes Danny's hand and congratulates him.
Jessica watched with a big smile on her face.
She was so excited for what was to come.**
That evening.
"Danny the phone! It might be Sarah's family!" Jessica jumps up.
Danny quickly gets up and answers the phone.
"Hello?
.. How is she?
.. Mhm. Yeah.. Yeah..""What happened?" Jessica whispers.
Danny places his hand on her and continues talking.
"Okay. Well thank you for updating us, we appreciate it. Sarah is like a sister to Jess and I.. it's just.. it's hard but we know it's a thousand times harder on you all. Again you all are in our prayers.
... Of course..... Thank you.....Bye."
Danny hangs up and looks at Jessica who was rocking, fiddling with her hands, and breathing heavily.
"Danny—"
"It's okay. She's okay."
"She made it through the surgery?"
"Yeah. She's resting now. They say everything is as good as it can be."
"That's good."
"Yeah."
Danny felt so bad for Jessica. She looked so worried.
"Come here. Don't worry, she'll be okay." Danny says holding her in his arms.
"Just breathe and think about something happy.... In four weeks we get to find out what our little baby is."
"Yeah.. Oh gosh, I wanna tell Sarah so bad" Jessica cries. "I always thought this would be so different. I prayed when I was younger that we'd get married and have babies at the same time.. I wanted to experience all of this with her."
"I know..
Heh.. I remember when you were about six-ish.. You two stuffed a small pillow underneath your shirts and pretended to be pregnant.""Yeah!" Jessica chuckles through her tears.
".. I also remember you telling us how we were dorks for doing that."Danny chuckles and gently sways with her in his arms. "You're still a dork, always have been."
"Thanks!" Jessica says sarcastically.
Danny smiles and looks down.
"I love my little dork.""I love you too."
The two then share a soft kiss before holding each other and having a moment of pure silence. Each one praying for their friend, and for the world that seemed to be changing drastically everyday.

Hayran KurguThis story will kinda be a little like my story, "Trapped". Only because it takes place during the pandemic, except in this story they're in their mid-late 20's.
