Winter was on the way, in London the weather was becoming chillier by the day. Penny found herself becoming bored during the day while the twins went to work. They never told her that she couldn't be down there, but she felt like work was their space. Her days traveling with her dad were just spent home.
A nice feature that came along with the recruitment job was the getting to choose which locations to visit. After his last visit, she took a long time to be home with the twins. Penny found herself pushing off going back to work in hopes that he would propose to her. Fred continued to push that she was pregnant on anyone that they both knew. It was becoming a bit annoying so she needed to work eventually.
"Ready to go?" Royce always picked her up from the twins' flat. It was always a surprise to what time of day he showed up. George constantly said that he was trying to catch them so he could bring her home.
"Yeah." Penny threw on her backpack full with clothes for the next few days.
Where are we heading?"Royce smiled, the two reappeared in minutes somewhere very warm. "Welcome to Uagadou."
Penny was shocked that she was here. "Who are we meeting?"
A beautiful dark skin woman approached them. She wore bright colors of yellow and purple on her robes. Her hair was dark with gold loopings all throughout. Penny was truly taken back by how beautiful this woman was. Royce hugged her, "Penny this is my old friend Dembe Akikki."
"Pleasure to meet you." She moved her hands in swift movements and the three of them were transported into what appeared to be her office. Again she was shocked. She had heard of wizards who never needed wands but she'd never seen it in person. Her gaze was focused on Penny and on the scars of her neck. She hadn't felt self conscious about them recently but her stares were causing them to burn slightly. "You've been touched by something dark. I felt it the moment I saw you."
Penny was unsure of what to say so Royce stepped in. "She took a curse to save someone."
Dembe smiled. "So very brave. You must show this to the students of age. This is how you will get your recruits."
She was confused as the woman began examining her scars. "What do you mean?"
Royce began to see Dembe's idea. "You're right."
The woman took Penny's hand. "I have a room full of gifted practitioners that are here to hear what you have to say. They want to help the fight but they need to see it. Show them what horrors can happen if we allow the darkness in."
Penny nodded. She would do anything to stop the man who killed her mother. Dembe Akikki brought her into a room without her father to change. For the first time, Penny had seen her back scar fully healed. It looked like pink scarred roots were growing out of her back. Her breasts were wrapped up so that the people could see her injuries without it becoming inappropriate. She gave her a cape where could cover herself for the time being.
Afterwards, she was rejoined with her father and they both were brought into the meeting room. All types of practitioners were sitting in front of them. All different in race, age, gender and even size. "Hello everyone. This is Royce and Penny Floyd, members of the Order of the Phoenix. They are here to answer you questions. The most important question being why do we get involved, yes?"
The room mumbled a response. Penny took a deep breath. "In my last year of school, which was last year I traveled with Harry Potter because he believed that someone he loved dearly was going to be killed by Voldemort. We traveled to the ministry and walked into a trap where death eaters met us and attacked us. We lost a very important person in the order due to Bellatrix Lestrange." She turned around and lowered her cape so they could see everything. There were multiple gasps throughout the room. "I took a curse in order to protect my friend. I was unconscious for a day and a half, my family, friends and boyfriend were scared that I wasn't going to live because my spine was showing. This is the evil that we need your help to stop. Don't let those darkness destroy another witch or wizard like this. Or allow them to harm anyone outside of the ridiculous standards of being pure-blood."
