Chapter 2

The next morning I was getting ready to meet Xander. As I got ready to go I heard a knock on my door.

“Come in!” I yelled.

Xander walked in with some flowers. “Hey!” he said smiling.

“Hi Xander.”

“Are you ready to go?”

“Yeah! Just let me grab something. “

“Okay.”

As we walked down the street, I was very curious at where we were going.

“So, where exactly are we going Xander?”

“You’ll see. It’s a surprise.” He said kissing the side of my head and holding my hand.

We got to a lake with a picnic set up and I could here music playing but I couldn’t tell where it was coming from though.

“Xander, this is amazing.” I said smiling.

“Come on!” He pulled me to the lake and he jumped in. I stood at the edge of the dock, looking down at him and watching him swim around.

“You’re crazy.” I said laughing.

“Come on in! Its fun!”

“I don’t know Xander, I don’t really know how to swim...”

“I’ll help you. Come on, give me your hand.”

I leaned my hand down to him and lost my balance and fell in head first, I started to panic and started sinking! I couldn’t move, I was so scared I thought I was going to drown. The enxt thing I knew Xander was underwater with me and was pulling me to the top of the water. I started coughing and held onto him tightly. I didn’t want to let go.

“Its okay Darling. I’ve got you. I wont let you go.”

I couldn’t say anything. All I could do was just cling to him.  “Please don’t let me go...I’m scared...”

“I wont. I promise. I’ll never let you go.”

Later sitting under a willow tree i was leaning against him, holding his hand.

“So, yesterday I told you about myself, now you tell me about you.”

“Okay. Well, my favorite color is yellow, I love photography, I like vintage clothes, I’m not really that girly, I like sports more than I like sparkles, and I’m from Indiana, obviously.”

I saw Xander smile.

“Now that you know about me. Is there anything else you want to know?”

“No. Not really.”

“So, what do you have planned?”

“Well, not really. But if you have an idea, I’d love to hear it.”

“No. Not really.”

Later as we walked back to my apartment I said goodnight and went inside.

A couple weeks later I was at work- I’m a waitress by the way- and as I was walking to the counter to get a tray of food I felt someone put their hands over my eyes and I heard a very familiar voice say:

“Hey.”

I couldn’t help but smile.

“Hi Xander.” I turned around and hugged him. “What are you doing here?”

“I um...I wanted to talk to you about something. Can we, can we talk, in private?”

“Sure sweetie.” I walked outside with him. “Xander what’s wrong? Oh my gosh! Are you breaking up with me?” I started to cry a little.

He walked over and hugged me tightly, “No. No gosh no, I’m not breaking up with you. I...I was coming to tell you that I have to go home. There has been a bit of a family emergency.

“Oh, well, how long will you be gone?”

“Well, i...I don’t really know. You see the thing is, you know how um-“ He was interrupted.

My boss came outside, “Look girly if you want to keep your job, you better get your pretty little self inside and quit locking lips with your boyfriend. You can see him when you get off work.”

“I’m coming Mr. Cane! I’ll call you when I get off okay?”

“Yeah...I’ll talk to you later.” Xander kissed my cheek and left.
