The day after I got back from Manson was a hard day. I decided that I should go to work. So while I was getting dressed there was a knock on my door. I went to answer it.

“Who is it?”

“Aud, Audrey, sweet heart, its me please let me in.”

“No. I’m sorry...i cant.”

“Audrey, please, I love you. Please...”

“What about the other girl I saw you with?”

“Audrey, my mother made me go on that date with her...” he then continued to tell me everything. “Please, let me in..”

“Xander, I’m sorry...I can’t let you in right now.” I left out the back door and went to work.

That evening I had to work the late. I didn’t get off till at least 2 in the morning. When I got off it was pouring down rain. As I stepped out side I saw Xander walk over to me.

“Audrey! Wait!” He ran after me but I just kept walking. I called for a taxi and as I stepped off into the street he grabbed my arm. I turned around, “Let go of me!”
He pulled me in close and kissed me.

“Woah...”

“You can’t tell me that you are still mad at me now.” He grinned.

“I’m not mad at you anymore Xander. I do love you.”

He hugged me. “Audrey, please come back to Manson with me. Please?”

“I don’t know...what about your mother? Doesn’t she hate me?”

“No, she just can’t accept the fact that I’m in love with you. And if she can’t accept that, then, I’ll just stay here with you then.”

I couldn’t help but smile. I could tell he was really trying to make me fell better.
“Xander, I couldn’t do that to you. Or her. I don’t want to hol you back. But whatever decision you make I am behind you 110%.”

“Thank you sweet heart.”

“You’re welcome.”

About a month later I was talking to Xander on the phone. I hadn’t seen him in three weeks.

“Xander, I don’t think I can do this anymore.”

“do what?”

“This. Our long distance relationship...its just too hard, I can’t stand not seeing you and when I do, it’s only for a day...”

“What are you saying Audrey?”

“I...I...I think we need to...”

“No, Audrey, no. We can work this out.”

“I’m sorry...” I had to hang up before I got too emotional.

A couple weeks later I was so sad. I couldn’t believe what had happened between me and Xander. I had decided I was going to go for a walk through the park. As I was walking I could hear music but couldn’t tell where it was coming from, so I went to find it. I ended up at the lake where Xander and I had our first date. The sun was about to set and as I looked at the dock I saw something I never thought I would see.

“What are you doing here?”

“I wanted to surprise you.” It was Xander. He was standing on the dock, he looked so handsome. He had a suit and tie, and he was holding a single rose.

I walked over to him.”Wha-?” he cut me off.

“Audrey, I knew from the moment I met you that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you more than words can express. I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life without you, and I don’t want to spend another minute away from you. Audrey Marie, will you marry me?” he got down on one knee and opened a blue velvet box. In it was a beautiful square cut diamond ring with three little sapphire’s on either side of the diamond. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

“Oh Xander! I love you too.” I smiled and hugged him. “Yes.”

“Audrey, I love you, and I will do anything- wait, did...did you say ‘yes’?”

I nodded. “Yes. I will marry you.”

He placed the ring on my finger and kissed me. I hugged her and then the clutz I am, I slipped on a puddle on the dock, and fell in the lake. The next thing I knew Xander was jumping in and saving me. I help onto him as tightly as I could.

“You’re always there when I need you. I love you Matthew Alexander.” I smiled and kissed him.

He kissed my nose sweetly. “I love you too.”
