I think that that was the first time I was nervous enough to actually be sick.
Xander grabbed my hand as I was standing in the kitchen with his mother and some of the other women in his family. "Hey," he whispered, "Are you okay? You look a little green."
"Yeah, I'm just a little bit nervous. I don't think I have ever been this nervous before in my whole life."
"You'll be okay sweet heart." He kissed my head. "I'll be right here next to you." As soon as he said that his twelve little cousins came running in and started jumping on him. "Oh no! The munchies!" he laughed as they started to pull him out of the room I got even more nervous.
His Aunt, his mother's youngest sister, came over to me and started drilling me with question after question. But, I stood firm and answered her questions.
Later after dinner Xander said he wanted to take me on a walk.
"So, having fun yet?" he asked with his goofy grin.
"Oh, yeah. Loads. Oh, hey, your Aunt sure was, um, what's the word, um, she asked me a bunch of question."
"Questions? Like what?"
"She asked me how many boyfriends I had? And, if I went to college, and what I majored in, how many kids I wanted, and how we met, you know the same questions any Aunt would ask."
"I'm sorry, wait, how many boyfriends have you had?"
"Um, well, I have only had one, you." I blushed.
"Oh, so, um...i don't know how you feel about this, but, how many kids do you want?"
"Oh, I...I don't know. A couple, two or three."
"Me too." He smiled. "Or more than that."
We walked for a while, he showed me the vineyards, the stables, and we went to the Eiffel tower. When they say Paris is the most romantic place on the planet, they aren't kidding. It literally is the most romantic place ever.
I almost never wanted to go home to Indiana. I wanted to stay with Xander; I never wanted to leave him. I had never felt this way about any guy.
On the way to the airport I couldn't stop crying. I didn't know why, but I just didn't want to leave Xander or his family.
"Listen, don't cry, Christmas will be here before you know it and we will be completing the plans for our wedding. Just remember, I love you and I will call you every day. Okay?"
I couldn't really talk; all I could do was hug him and cry. He was very sweet and sympathetic and caring, he hugged me and calmed me down.
"What if it doesn't work out Xander? What if I can't stand being away from you? Christmas is like, three whole weeks away."
"It will. Everything will work out, don't you worry, It will be hard to be away from each other, but we can do it. I promise. I know, but don't worry, When Christmas does get here, and it will be the best Christmas ever."
