"MOULIN ROUGE!" i said, practically yelling at my friends as soon as i sat down at my lunch table.

"what are you talking about?" savannah asked, looking at me like a crazed person.

"this years school musical, they announced it in dill and i's first period and the whole class looked at her because of the gasp that came out of her mouth." isaiah said, with a playful smirk on his lips as he looked at me.

yeah, he's right. i know i said this earlier but, i've always had a love for theatre and moulin rouge is my absolute favorite. the storyline, the music, satine and christian's relationship, the "campiness" of the whole thing, i love it all.

"isn't it a bit racey for a high school musical though?" hudson asked.

i mean he has a point, it isn't the most pg musical a high school could've done but, i'm not complaining.

"well, i heard that the principle actually requested it this year, to honor his wife." vienna said.

our principle's wife just past away from a car crash and, from what our understanding is, moulin rouge was her favorite movie ever.

"oh well, that makes sense." hudson said.

"yeah, auditions are this friday." i said.

"dill, you have to audition! you'd be the perfect satine!" isiah said.

"yes dillon you're doing it there's no question about it." vienna said.

"oh come on guys, there's no way i'd be ready by the time of auditions and plus i heard that jade is auditioning and she gets lead everytime." i said. it's true, jade is one hell of a singer.

"oh please! it's monday! you will totally be ready! plus, you get to pick your audition song! dill you have an outstanding voice! just be confident in it because you seriously could do great things with it!" savannah said as the rest of the group agreed with me.

we eventually moved on from the topic but, my mind couldn't.
i've never done something so much out of my comfort zone and it honestly sounds scary as hell just auditioning, i couldn't imagine what it'd be like getting an actual role and having to perform in front of an audience for 3 nights in a row.

but, the more i thought about it, the more i fell in love with the idea of it all.

///

it's currently after school and i was walking to meet up with the rest of the group by the football field. i had to finish a test in my last period so, everyone was already there.

"hey dillon! wait up!" i heard a voice come from behind me as i opened the doors to go outside. as i held the door open for whoever was behind me, i saw that it was tucker.

"hey tucker! what's up!" i asked as he caught up to me.

"oh nothing much, i have to wait for callan to be done with practice because he's driving me home." he said with a smile.

"oh nice! it's a good thing practice is practally over then huh." i said, trying to make small talk.

"yeah definitely." he said with a cloud of silence following it.

"so um, did you hear the musical for this year! seems pretty cool!" he said as we were walking down the stairs to get to the field.

"yeah actually i did! i'm really excited for it!" i said.

"oh really? are you going to audition?" he asked with a curious smile on his face.

"umm, i'm not sure. i'm definitely thinking about it though." i said as we got to the bottom of the stairs. i look a little ways away to seem my group goofing around, then to the field to see that the football team had just finished practice.

"that's really cool! you should audition! i'm always a stage hand myself." tucker said, which i actually knew. i always would see him running around during the plays in the wings in all black.

we finally reached my friends as the football team was exiting the field from the gate right next to us. we made some small talk with tucker and the rest of the group until we heard a voice interrupt our conversation.

"hey tucker, you ready?" callan called from behind us, staring at him with us.

"oh yeah, i gotta go, see you guys around!" tucker said as we all waved him goodbye as he ran to callan.

"oh and dillon!" i heard tucker say.

"audition for the musical! i'm sure you'd be great in any role!" he said as he turned around walking with callan. even though tucker look away, callan didn't. he was just looking at me with a confused face, and then a smirk before he turned around.

what was with the smirk?

he seems to be doing that a lot lately.
