while callan and i were trying to leave the party, we got caught up with having to say goodbye to a bunch of people as we would walk through the house. i couldn't help but catch the weird glares people were throwing callan and i which, i understand. i mean, we're supposed to be rivals who hate each other and now we're leaving a party together, doesn't really send off the right message.

we finally made it out there and started the small walk to callan's car.

"wait, does your friends know you're leaving? didn't you all drive together?" i asked, suddenly worried if his friends will have a ride home.

"yes, jade and thomas left a couple hours ago and torey and tucker found a ride home." he said, smiling at me.

"oh okay, just wanted to make sure." i asked.

"since when do you care about the immortals getting home safe?" he asked in a teasing tone.

"since when do immortals gives vices' rides home? i guess it's just a weird night all around." i said as we finally got to his car. i tried to open the passenger's car door but, callan just pushed my hand off of the handle to unlock the car and open the door for me, all i could do was give him a questioning look.

"just because you're dillon veams doesn't mean i'm not going to be a gentleman." he said as he ushered me to go inside so, i do.

i sit down waiting for him to come around on his side and start to drive me home. once we were finally on our way, my mind couldn't help but wonder. i mean, this night had been a weird one. from the very moment at hudson's house when he couldn't stop staring at me, and then us maybe having a fight? i don't even know what that was. and then declan trying to talk to me was very strange, especially at a party, then callan repeating himself about how he knows what he wants, and now especially the fact that callan had to drive me home because hudson got too drunk? i never would've ever thought callan and i would be in the same car, especially him giving me a ride home.

"so um, where is your house? i don't really know where i'm going." he said which made me panic. i couldn't go to my moms house i know that, and now i'm feeling weird about going to hudson's because, for all i know rachel could be there too. so, i go to my last option. my favorite park just a couple roads by my house. i go to that park whenever i want to be by myself that night but, hudson usually comes and rescues me but, i don't think i have to worry about that tonight. so, i just start giving him directions to park.

"do you want to play any music?" he asked, giving me his phone. wow, how nice would it be to have a car.

"sure." i said, taking it and seeing that spotify was already up on his phone. i search my username and then shuffle my monthly playlist, hoping nothing embarrassing comes on but, feeling relieved when freaking out on the interstate by briston maroney starts to play lowly.

"wow veams, starting off with a banger, i'm surprised." callan said laughing slightly.

"hey what can i say, i have taste." i said, smiling, "i can actually say the same thing though, i'm very happy to see that you use spotify instead of apple music." i said, joking around.

"well of course, spotify is for the elite." he said, smiling at me.

"wow, look at us. we're in a car, bonding over music, not getting in a fight. we've come a long way." i said laughing, thinking about our history. for some reason, i feel very comfortable in his car with him. something about the environment just makes me want to losen up, forget that i hate callan's guts most of the time.

"yeah i know, i mean remember when you slapped me at school?" he said which made me laugh.

"yes, and i'd do it again if you ever catcalled me again." i said.
