Chapter 13

About 9 the surgeon came in.

"Hello Thomas, I am Dr Martinez, I'll be doing your heart surgery today.." he said with a smiled, "We're going to take you to get you prepped in the pre-surgery room, do say good bye to your beautiful family."

" I better wake up again from this damn surgery," Thomas grumbled. " We love you Dad," Joe said to him. " I love. you guys too," Thomas said to all three of them. The Doctor wheeled Thomas out of the room and up to get him prepped. ** ~ Ana turned to Joe," Let me get you some coffee, something to eat," she said softly to him.

"Alright, thank you.." he said trying to smile.

She walked out of the room and to the cafeteria to get him something to eat. She got a muffin and a cup of coffee for him, she came up to the floor and Joe and Kate were in the waiting area by now. She handed him the coffee and the muffin.

"Thank you," he said.

"You're welcome," she said drinking her own coffee,"\\.

"Are you guys okay with each other now?" Kate asked them.

She was leaning against the wall.

"I don't know," ana said, with a shrug.

Joe said nothing in response. Kate looked at the both of them, trying to read them. 

" Joey, I love Ana like a sister," Kate said quietly," This whole family loves her too." 

" I never said I didn't love her Kate," he said quietly. 

"Well if you guys are going to break up, than you had better prepare this entire family," she warned.

"Break up?" he asked softly, a bit confused.

"You guys were fighting like I've never seen before when I got here today," Kate reminded him. 

" So? Who said anything about breaking up?" he asked," I was mad at her for showing up hungover when I need her today."

"And she's just fine, only sign of her hang over was the glasses she had on...." Kate said shaking her head.

"That's NOT the point!" he said angrily," I'm terrified of losing Dad and she'd rather down beers at the local pub! If she loved me like she says than she would have put Dad first today of all the days in the world."

"She did.... just because she had a couple drinks, doesn't mean she doesn't care." she said.

"Whatever Kate. You don't even know why we're fighting to begin with," Joey told her," So stay out of it."

"Hey, you don't get to snap at me!!" she said, "I was trying to help!!"

"Than don't tell me how to handle my anger!" Joey told her angrily," I have every right to be angry!" 

"So do I," Ana said to him," But do you see me yelling?" 

Joe's head turned towards her," Why are you suddenly so difficult!" he said annoyed," You were perfectly happy with where we stood! Now all of sudden you're not? Huh, not good enough to have someone who loves you? Need to suffocate the life out of him too!" 

"Joey!" Kate said," Stop that. What's wrong with you?"

"Everything...." ana whimpered, I am going out for fresh air. Turns out I have a lot to think about....

Jen to Ana: girl I landed, where are you?

Ana : Hospital. Thomas is having surgery. She sighed as she stared at the buildings across from the hospital. She really wanted to believe that things would be okay with Joe, that they would work itself out, but she didn't think so.
