18 - I'm Not Alone.

Jungkook comes for breakfast one day and sees Namjoon in a call and he looks troubled.

"Good morning hyung. What's up with Namjoon hyung?" Jungkook asks from Jin who gives him his breakfast.

"I don't know. Something's wrong at the station." Jin replies little troubled too.

Just then, Namjoon finishes his call and puts his phone down.

"What's wrong Joonie hyung?" Jungkook asks with concern.

"We are having some issue with the computers in the station. I don't know what to do. We'll have to wait till an expert is sent from HQ. We don't have anyone with that kind of knowledge here. Meanwhile, we are unable to do any work." Namjoon explained in a tired voice.

"Oh really. That's bad. Maybe Taehyung can help."

"Taehyung?"

"Yeah, he's good with computers. Do you want me to call and ask him?"

"He is? Well it wouldn't hurt to have a look I suppose."

Jungkook quickly calls Taehyung and the call is answered after few rings.

"Hey baby, good morning." Taehyung answers cheerfully.

"Good morning Tae. Did you had breakfast?"

"No not yet. I was just thinking about making something. What's up?"

"Joonie hyung said that there's some issue with the computers in the police station. I was wondering whether you would like to help."

"Police station?"

"Yeah. They are in a real tight spot it seems."

Taehyung was reluctant to associate with the police but he wants to help Namjoon too.

"Is Joonie hyung at home? Can I come?"

"Yes please."

Few minutes later, Taehyung rang the doorbell and Jungkook goes to open the door.

"Hey baby." Taehyung said as he pulled Jungkook in for a quick kiss.

"Hi Tae, come on in."

Taehyung walks in and finds Namjoon and Jin sitting at the table. Jungkook drags him over to the table and make him sit while Jin fusses over him with food.

"Eat first. Then you all can talk." Jin says sternly and everyone gets on with their breakfast.

"I don't know why you won't come for breakfast everyday Tae." Jin says with a frown.

"Hyung please, we are not having this conversation again. My fridge is filled with your food anyway." Taehyung replies with a sigh. This is a conversation they have once in every few days.

Once they were done with breakfast Taehyung asks Namjoon about the issues. Namjoon is not sure what has happened but they are having trouble accessing the main data base.

"We are unable to access any information. We can't do our daily work even." Namjoon explains the issue.

"Ok. Maybe I can come and have a look. Then we'll see what the issue is."

With that, Namjoon and Taehyung left to the police station. Jungkook stayed home as today was his day off.

As Taehyung walks in to the police station, Hoseok and Yoongi greets him. Hoseok seems very relaxed while Yoongi looks annoyed at not being able to work properly.

Taehyung sits at one of the computers and asks Namjoon to try to access the main data base. Once the error message pops out, Taehyung starts his work.

All the people in the police station looks in surprise as Taehyung's long and slender fingers starts to move with an almost inhuman speed. They can barely see what he was typing and the screen fills will various black color windows. It looks like a scene from a spy movie.

"Joonie hyung, does anyone use the internet other than the given systems on these computers?" Taehyung asks without taking his eyes off of the screen.

"We all do, I suppose. Why?" Namjoon replies with a shrug.

"There's a virus. By the logs that I managed to open, it seems that someone has accessed a...umm...." Taehyung finally looks at Namjoon and beacons him and Namjoon bends down to Taehyung's level.

"Someone has accessed a porn site." Taehyung whispers so that only Namjoon will hear.

Namjoon straightens his back. "I see."

Taehyung gets back to his work and after about 20 minutes, he gets up from the chair.

"Try to login again, Joonie hyung."

Namjoon tries again and this time it's working. Everyone lets out sounds of surprise. It has taken a very little time for Taehyung to fix this.

"Wow!! How did you do that?" Hoseok asks in awe and Taehyung just shrugs his shoulders.

"Thank you Tae. You are a life saver." Namjoon shook Taehyung's hand in gratitude and he leads the younger in to his room.

"It's no big deal hyung." Taehyung replies with a smile.

"Tae there's something I've been meaning to ask you." Namjoon says cautiously.

Taehyung looks at him in surprise. He has been expecting this actually but not sure whether he is ready to answer. But he doesn't want to lie either.

"What is it hyung?" Taehyung asks in the same cautious tone.

"Look, I get that you don't like to talk about your past and I don't want to make you uncomfortable. And I'm not asking this as a police officer. But as Jungkook's brother, I have to do this. I hope you understand me. I know that you are hiding from something or someone."

Taehyung lets out a little gasp. The only person that he has ever said something is Jungkook but he knows that Jungkook would never betray him. Namjoon correctly interprets the expression on his face and quickly answers.

"No I didn't hear anything from Jungkook. Tae I am a police officer. Even though I have not seen it personally before, I know enough to recognize the signs. And it would explain your hesitancy to associate with Jungkook."

"I don't really want to know what has happened in your past. I mean, if you want to talk about it, I will listen but I will not force you. I want to know only one thing."

Taehyung just keeps on looking at Namjoon, waiting for the strike.

"Now I consider myself as a good judge of character. From what I've seen and what I know about you, I believe you are to be a good person. And I don't think your answer will change the way I see you."

"But I need to know so that I can protect you and my brother both. Just tell me one thing Tae. Have you done anything illegal or criminal? Just yes or no. I don't need to know the details"

Namjoon looks at Taehyung in the eye as he asks the question. There was no hostility or contempt in Namjoon's eyes. They are sincere and kind.

Taehyung felt his heart soar in gratitude. He has never expected to be welcomed in to these people's lives like this. Never expected to be loved this unconditionally.

"No. But the people after me have done both." Taehyung finally whispers as he felt tears slip through his eyes.

Namjoon held his gaze for few more seconds before getting up and walking to Taehyung's chair. He pulled the younger man in to a tight hug and Taehyung just melted. He has not felt this safe in a long time.

"Don't worry Tae. They won't find you here. And even if they do, you are not alone anymore. You have all of us. We will make sure that you are safe."

Taehyung gave a tiny nod. After a long time, he doesn't feel lonely anymore. After a long time, he feels safe.
