Angus and I had gone back to sleep. Somehow I managed to get some sleep. So the next morning, I got up and brushed my teeth and combed my hair. Today's plan was as follows:
The boys went to the studio
Me, Linda, and Ellen went to buy things for me
I didn't want to part with Brian. We had all had breakfast, only one was missing: Brian. So I made my way upstairs with Angus. He was in his bed. His covers were on the floor and he was snoring. I giggled. God. He looked cute. His slate cap was hanging on the bed frame.
"Get up, sleepyhead." Angus said and nudged Brian. But he turned and went back to sleep.
"Get up, Brian." I said gently and caressed his shoulder. "You have to go to the studio." He hummed and pressed into my touch. I'm was a little excited. Angus smiled at me. "Brian, get up." He didn't. "Is that always the case?" I asked.
"Usually not. Unless he drank a lot." Angus muttered doubtfully. "But actually he didn't have that yesterday. Come on. Stand up. We're missing our studio appointment." Angus violently shook Brian's muscular arm. Brian grumbled and went back to sleep. I giggled. There was a knock on the door. Malcolm.
"Are you finally coming?" He asked. Angus and I pointed at Brian at the same time. "Oh." Malcolm muttered and came over to us. He shook Brian's shoulder. "Get up." Nothing happened.
"We tried that too." Angus grumbled, but then grinned at his brother. "Cover your ears, Arlene."
"What? Why?" I asked puzzled.
"Just do it." Angus said, covering his ears as well. Malcolm took a deep breath. What was that supposed to mean?
"Get your ass out of bed, Johnson!" Malcolm yelled so loudly that my ears creaked in protest even though I covered them. My head hurt for a moment and my vision blurred. Holy shit! How can he be so loud when he is so small!? Brian immediately jumped up. He looked around in panic until he saw us. Groaning, he fell back on the pillows.
"I hate you, Malcolm." He moaned, covering his ears, which probably still hurt, as did mine. Malcolm pulled the covers off him.
"Get up and get dressed. We have to go."
"Give me ten minutes." Brian muttered.
"You have five." Malcolm said sternly and left the room. Angus and I giggled and ran after him.
"Please don't do this to your child." I giggled.
"I'm not screaming at a baby." Malcolm said, horrified.
"Well then." Angus smiled. "Mal?"
"Mh?" Malcolm asked absently as he pulled his denim jacket tighter around him.
"Arlene doesn't have an official surname here in Australia. If someone asks, we just say we adopted her, okay?"
"Yes. No problem." Malcolm said and sat down on the banister. What was he up to? "I challenge you, little brother." Angus grinned and sat on the other end of the staircase. What did they do?
"One ... two ... three!" Angus yelled and the two drove down the banister at high speed. I ran after laughing. Soon we were down in the living room again. Angus was on the floor and Malcolm laughed at him. He helped him up and smiled at his brother. Angus smiled too.
"You are such kids." Cliff grinned and rolled his eyes.
"We aren't!" Malcolm and Angus shouted at the same time. I giggled. Shortly afterwards, Brian came down the stairs in a good mood.
"So. Let's go then, won't we?" Everyone nodded. They took their instruments. Except for Phil. Because there was a borrowed drum kit in the studio, as he told me. Malcolm held Linda's hand and his guitar case in the other. I smiled at both of them. Angus looked at me uncertainly. I nodded. So he carefully took Ellen's hand. Ellen looked at him in surprise, but then smiled happily. Angus kissed her on the cheek.
"I love you honey." I smiled.
"I love you too, Angus." Ellen looked so happy! Aw. Angus had only needed a nudge.
"But I want to go." I heard Malcolm wail. Linda kissed his cheek.
"You have to get your album ready, honey. I'll show you the pictures."
"But I want to go with you." Malcolm said again and I saw that he had tears in his eyes. "I want to see it." She smiled and kissed his cheek.
"Next time. Promised."
"You said that last time, too." Malcolm muttered. The two stopped.
"You have to finish the album, okay? I'll bring pictures." She kissed him gently. Malcolm leaned against her and kissed her hard too. Linda's baby bump was between the two and Malcolm gently put a hand on her stomach. I smiled. God. This is so cute. When the two parted, Malcolm's eyes watered a little. Linda smiled. "I love you, Mr Young."
"I love you too, Mrs Young." Malcolm smiled. The boys continued to go to the studio and we turned right.
"Why was Malcolm sad?" I asked.
"We'll go to the ultrasound after that and he wanted to go with us."
"I see."
"Yes. He really cares a lot about this child."
"It's his child." I giggled. She smiled. We went on for a while.
"Angus was romantic for the first time today." Ellen said dreamily. I smiled. Soon we were in the pedestrian zone and looked at several shops. I got new clothes. Ellen and Linda bought a few things too. Ellen checked her watch. "Linda, darling! We have to go quickly! Your appointment will be soon!" She exclaimed. So we quickly went to the practice. We took an elevator up and then arrived at the practice. Linda got an ultrasound. I watched with interest. Is that how it was in the 80s? You hardly saw the child at all!
"Is it a girl or a boy?" Asked Linda.
"I can't tell you, Mrs. Young, because I don't know. But I assume that your child will be perfectly healthy." The doctor smiled and felt Linda's stomach a little. "Everything should be fine."
"Thank you." Beamed Linda. She got two pictures. Then we went back out. Ellen walked next to me. We had a good time. Linda looked at the pictures all the way. I smiled. Soon we got to the studio and heard loud drums and angry guitar strikes outside in the street. What happened there? We went inside. The front desk man said hello to Linda and Ellen. He probably knew them both. We went into a back room. Angus, Cliff, Phil and Brian were sitting in the control room where we were now. Malcolm could be seen behind the glass. He had headphones on and his guitar on. His fingers struck the hard rhythm guitar notes. I watched with interest. Not everybody could see Malcolm Young, the rhythm guitar god, playing guitar.
"Change the last bit a little." Phil said over the intercom. Angus switched the tape back on and Malcolm played again. From the very first bars I could tell that it was "Bedlam in Belgium". The song was on "Flick of the switch" Oh. Right! That should be the next album out there! The album was released in 1983. So about next year! Besides, it was autumn already! So soon! Oh, I would be there! Malcolm hit the strings quickly. Linda smiled at him. He raised his head and saw her. She held up the pictures. Malcolm beamed. Suddenly his guitar chords didn't sound so gloomy anymore. It sounded better. Much better. Angus quickly switched on another tape. Ellen kissed Angus gently. Brian was standing in the corner eating a sandwich. He grinned at me. I went to him.
"Hello Brian." I said with a grin.
"Hello. Slept well?"
"Yes, of course. Thank you again that I can stay with you."
"Don't worry." Had he forgotten everything from yesterday? He smiled happily. God! He looked so good today! His slightly curly hair stood out on the side of his slate cap. And he was wearing the shirt he wore in the music videos from the Back in Black album. That shirt with the 22. He grinned at me.
"You look good, Brian."
"You too, Arlene. Way better than me." He giggled and went back to the intercom. I blushed. Angus winked at me and I rolled my eyes. Malcolm came through the door and ran towards Linda.
"Is everything all right with our baby?" He asked, almost a little panicked.
"Yes." Linda giggled. "Everything is fine, Mal." She showed him the pictures and I had to smile when he even cried a little. Brian smiled at me and put an arm around me. I leaned against his warm chest.
