Shiro's POV

I woke to the smell of an ocean breeze and vanilla smell filling the entire ship it was unmistakable of what it smelt like, an Omega in heat. I followed the smell to the source and found myself standing outside Lance's room, but this couldn't' be right, Lance was a Beta if he was an Omega he would've had a heat before this it doesn't age sense.

"My Omega"

That was Keith's voice! I could slowly smell his pheromones getting stronger, I quickly left down the hall, if either of them smelt another Alpha while doing whatever they were going to do it would make things very complicated. But we need a serious talk with Lance, hiding his gender and lying to us is bad for the pack and it's trust for one another he needs to know what impact this could've had.

Walking into the dinning room I see both the Alteans's with Hunk cooking breakfast and Pidge holding a disgusted look on her face.

"Why the face Pidge, new smells and everything getting to you?" I say with a hint of a smile, I remembered when I presented as an Alpha I think I fully freaked for a week getting use to everything.

Pidge glared towards me. "Everyone stinks!" Laughter erupted into the room at the youngest Alpha's expense. "But there is a new smell that's overpowering everything, it smells of the ocean and vanilla, what the hell is it?!" You could see the irritation clear on her face.

"Erm....well....I think it might be Lance."

"Why would it be Lance?" Hunk queried, knowing it smelt like Omega but saying it was Lance who he had known since the first days of the garrison didn't make any sense.

"I...*cough*...just followed the smell to his room and then I could hear and smell....erm...Keith."I could hear my own voice not believing my own words.

"He's in heat isn't he?" Pidge asked.

"Yes he is, did you know that Lance was an Omega Pidge?" A little annoyance coming through that secrets might be being kept between paladins.

Pidge sighed. "I didn't until I started presenting, he started to scent me and even built me a nest to help with the pain, we were going to talk about and try and tell everyone today. He's terrified of you finding out he's an Omega but he wouldn't tell me why." She looked down at the table, sadness filling the room.

I pondered a moment processing this new found knowledge.

"Lance is probably keeping his secondary gender secret because he's worried about us. I know male Omega's are rare but they're not uncommon, why does he feel the need to hide this from us? Haven't we proven to him that we can be trusted, we've saved each other in battle countless times. Yes we've been a bit critical but it's seems to have done him good, he's matured so much in the past couple of months he's started to become useful to the team and as a paladin. We need to talk to him once his heat is over."

"Fuck you Shiro!" The small Alpha's voice booming through the room. I know she's newly presented and young but having another Alpha insult me as the head Alpha can't be tolerated.

"You will not speak to me that way Pidge, I am the head Alpha. Stop before you regret saying or doing something you can't take back." My stern voice exasperating my point.

"How dare you say he's only now become 'useful', do you have any idea what that would do to Lance if he had heard you. Hearing you the 'head alpha' belittle him in front of the rest of our so called 'pack'. I've seen Matt go through enough pain to know what any small amount of words can do to an Omega, especially considering how we've all been towards Lance since we've been in space! We.....we were so mean...*sob*...he was never horrible to us but we always put him down in some way...*sob/sniffle*...he's not well." Pidge curled in on herself tears starting to fall down her cheeks.

Hunk instantly went over tried to comfort Pidge. "What do you mean he's not well Pidge? Please tell me I need to know what I can do to help my best friend." He sounded so desperate it was weird.

...... *silence*

"Please Pidge." Hunk begged again, but was met with sniffs and sobs.

"We need to know, this could affect the team as a whole if Lance isn't well." I stated.

Pidge's eyes met mine in a death glare. "You don't even care about him, you just want to make sure Voltron won't be affected!"

"That's not true Pidge, I do care but we also need to make sure we can still form Voltron, if we can't the entire universe is at stake. We need the strongest team ready to fight." I pleaded with her.

"You don't even know how you sound right now do you? You don't deserve Lance, I'll speak to him before I tell you anything." And with that she stormed out of the room.

I don't understand why she's being so unreasonable, I like Lance but the Universe is more important than just one person, if he's not well enough to fight I'm sure he'll understand. I could see the glances from the rest of the team as they dispersed from the room saying nothing more to me. I'm not the bad guy here.

We're gonna have a serious group discussion once those two are finished doing...'that'. Oh god I hope Keith hasn't mated with him.
