Unplanned Baby

Six weeks later, January 9, 2039, Audrey and Peyton's Townhome, Los Angeles, California

Audrey Patterson, 23, walked into their home with tears falling down her face. She was just kicked out of law school because she just found out she was pregnant and she couldn't catch up on everything. She sat on the couch, grabbed the pillow and sobbed. "Fuck! Jesus!" She heard the front door open.

Her husband, Peyton Patterson, 27, walked through the door, he saw the look on her face. "Baby? What...What's wrong?" He took off his jacket and walked over to her, sat down next to his obvious emotional wife.

Audrey looked up at him with her makeup all messed up. "I...I got kicked out of law school..."

Peyton's eyes went wide. "What?! Why? I thought you were catching up, were you?" He said, clearly upset.

Audrey took a deep breath. "I..I couldn't catch up and as much as I tried everything just got worse..."

He was confused. What does that mean? "What else is wrong, Auds?"

Audrey looked at him. "I'm pregnant..." She began sobbing.

Peyton's eyes went wide again. He pulled her into his arms, rubbing her back. "Baby, it's okay." He kissed her head. "Shhh..."

Audrey buried her head into his shoulder. "What the fuck is wrong with me?!" She sobbed.

Peyton shook his head. "Auds...Nothing is wrong with you! You got pregnant, what's wrong with you being pregnant?" He rubbed her back.

Audrey sniffed loudly, wiping her eyes and cheeks. "Peyton, are you fucking serious right now? We...We weren't planning to have a baby now! I fucking got kicked out of law school! I'm not ready...I..." She stood up from the couch, gasping, as she was trying to calm down. But it was nearly impossible.

Peyton looked at his wife. "Baby, breathe." He got off the couch and began rocking her in his arms. "I know we weren't planning on having a baby now, but I'm excited if you are pregnant."

Audrey sniffed. "Pey.. .I don't think I can do this! We aren't ready for a baby. You haven't finished your second year residency and...I got kicked out of law school! I worked my fucking ass off trying to catch up from the past year and five months, and it's gone to fucking shit!"

Peyton kissed her head. "Audrey..." He turned her to face her, he cupped her face and wiped her cheeks with his thumbs. "Look at me..."

Audrey shook her head softy. "No..."

Peyton got on his knees, grabbing her hands and sighed. "Audrey, I don't care if it's just me supporting us and our family. You know I make enough as it is without you having to bust your ass off for 2 years in law school..." He kissed her belly. "And, baby, you've told me you were really starting to hate it and you wanted to go to medical school..."

Audrey sighed deeply. "Yeah, but I don't...I don't want to always need you for everything though, Peyton...That's not fair!"

Peyton shook his head. "Audrey Rose...I've told you many times about this. If you came to me and said, 'Babe, I want to stay home and raise our kids, I won't want to work anymore', do you know what my answer would be?"

Audrey nodded slowly as she gave a small smile. "Your answer was, 'We can do it. I make enough for us. You can stay home'..."

He nodded his head. "That's right..." He stood up and leaned in and kissed her. "Did you bring home pregnancy tests?"

She nodded. "I did. I needed you to see it as well. I brought ones that I haven't used yet..."

Peyton nodded. "Go ahead and take them, baby. I'll be right here..."

Audrey nodded her head. "Okay..." She grabbed the pregnancy tests from her purse, walked into their bathroom, took a few deep breaths before taking the pregnancy tests. She was shaking.

"God, I'm shaking. Let's do this..." After 3 minutes, she walked out of the bathroom. "They're blinking. It said wait five minutes or even sooner..."

Peyton nodded. "Okay..." He squeezed her hand.

A few minutes later, Audrey picked up the pregnancy tests. "It's positive..." She covered her mouth in shock. "Oh my God. We're having a baby!" She looked at her husband.

Peyton's eyes went wide. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her passionately. "We're having a baby!"

Audrey giggled and nodded. "Yeah, we are." She sighed. "Shit, how am I gonna figure out what to do in my career with a baby on the way?"

Peyton looked at her. "You could take a break from school and then figure it out after the baby's born."

Audrey nodded. "Yeah. I can do that. I don't want to be stressed out."

Peyton nodded. "Yeah. Let's just celebrate before we tell everyone after you go to the doctor."

She smiled. "I'll call her tomorrow. I want to just enjoy the excitement right now."

He chucked. "Me too. How about my famous pasta and meatballs for dinner?"

Audrey nodded her head. "Yumm. That sounds so good..." She said, walking into the kitchen. "I can't wait to tell everyone..."

Peyton smiled. "Me either, baby girl." He pulled her into his arms and kissed her passionately. "I can't believe all of the nights we had sex, you got pregnant on our honeymoon..."

She smiled. "I did mention that I had gotten my birth control shot the day before we left for our honeymoon."

Peyton slapped his forehead with his hand. "Shit...and we didn't use protection..."

Audrey nodded. "Yep, and now, we're having a baby."

Peyton chuckled. "Yeah. I can't wait to hold the baby. I hope she or he looks like you."

Audrey chuckled. "I hope the baby has your eyes."

He smiled. "My blue eyes?"

Audrey nodded. "Uh huh. He or she will be so beautiful."

Peyton nodded. "Exactly. We will be great parents to our baby, Auds. I can promise you I will do whatever I need to do to make you feel more comfortable. Okay?"

Audrey nodded her head. 'Okay. I know you can do that for me. I won't be doing school now, so I have a lot of time on my hands. I can help Dani with her wedding. Dana asked me to help her whenever she couldn't. I hope I can be a great help as well."

He chuckled. 'I'm sure everyone will be shocked that you're pregnant, right?"

Audrey nodded. "Yeah. They will be. We weren't expecting to become parents now."

Peyton laughed. "I know this pregnancy wasn't planned, but I'm excited to be a dad to our baby."

She smiled. "I'm excited to see her or him."

Peyton smiled. "Me too. I can't wait." He begun boiling some water for the pasta. "Did you drink at Dani's birthday party?"

Audrey shook her head. "No."

Peyton smiled. "Good. That's one thing I don't have to worry about."

After dinner, they snuggled up in bed and watched a movie before falling asleep in each other's arms.
