Chapter Four- Save Him

Author's Note: Okay, chapter four is now edited. There have been a decent amount of changes made to this one so it fits into the timeline, hence the increase in chapter length. Lol. I also added some tiny details about the main plot as foreshadowing. Hopefully all of you still like the chapter. If you notice any issues with it, please let me know!!

Ash was startled out of his stupor in the tub by the door suddenly opening and a slender, red and blue costumed guy walking in. He was in the process of pulling his mask back down over a fairly youthful-looking face as he glanced backwards over his shoulder at someone behind him. "Come on, ignore the noise....it is nothing but a friendly neighborhood spider...." The obviously young man was whispering softly to himself as he slipped into the bathroom to hide. The teenager's already quiet voice trailed off into silence when he noticed Ash floating in the tub, the sight leaving him stunned as he quickly noted Ash's well-toned physique, pale-white skin, and snowy-white hair. Ash's hauntingly violet eyes were even framed by pure white lashes and frosty eyebrows. The kid also noted, with some intense curiosity, that he had a long, slender tail curling around his body from behind.

The kid froze for a second when there was a rough knock on the door, only to leap up onto the ceiling and hang there when the door was slammed open. Ash was mildly impressed by the kid's talent even as he was distracted by the guard.

"Has anyone suspicious come in here?" The guard asked, his roving eyes leaving Ash feeling disturbed. He swiftly sat up and covered himself at the unwanted attention. "Define suspicious?" Ash asked gruffly, irritated by the guards actions as well as his tone. "Strange, dangerous, etc..." The guard replied, a bit of sarcasm in his voice.

"Then yes..." Ash said, noting the kid above him tense. "Where is he!?" The guard said excitedly before Ash's answer of, " You." left him to storm out fuming after he gave Ash a long, venomous glare.

A soft snicker of laughter from above him after the door had slammed shut was all the warning that Ash got before the masked kid dropped back onto the floor as silently as a ninja.

"Hi." Ash said, lifting a wet hand to wave awkwardly at the stunned man before sinking as much as possible into the water.

"You have a tail...." The masked kid stated, his eyes seemingly fixated on it in fascination, leaving Ash embarrassed. He quickly pulled his tail under the water with him, trying to hide it, and that finally seemed to snap the kid back to reality.

"Sorry. It tends to hypnotize people. Something about how it sways....." Ash whispered, shame in his tone. "It's because it's beautiful." The kid said truthfully, "The shape, and how elegantly it curls....but I might be biased. It reminded me of my cats." He smiled at Ash, and laughed lightly to show he was trying to lighten the mood. "Sorry for busting in here, I just wanted to see what was going on with the Avengers lately... I'll get out of your hair."

"What do you mean? What's going on with the Avengers?" Ash asked, even as he remembered the odd mood in the tower when he popped in with Loki. The haunted look on Stark's face flitted thru his head. "They've had a bad few months..." The kid said, sounding surprised that Ash was in the dark, "Cap has been running off on his own ever since the assassination attempt on Fury....but I don't really know why. The biggest conflict seems to be over the Accords. Cap doesn't agree with them, and some of the others followed him..."

"The Accords?" Ash asked him, confused.

"Have you been living under a rock?" The kid asked bluntly, his hands lifted questioningly as he tilted his head.

"In a cave, actually....not exactly an internet hotspot...." Ash quipped back, the corner of his mouth curling up mockingly.

"Oh! Sorry.... This stuff really only kicked off a short while ago. Up until recently Cap was still working with the rest of them when he was needed, but after Sokovia, and the attack on the UN meeting in Vienna... He disappeared." The kid explained.
