City

This is my first time doing a real ff like a ship ff and yaaas I chose hyunlix because it's one my favorites. Idk if y'all gonna like this but I hope you guys show this the same love and support y'all give When it Rains :3

"Can we just go? I'm tired." Felix complained. Hyunjin ignored his whining and continued to rummage through the waste piles. "We've been looking for that damned transmitter for hours." He complained again. "It's not like you have a job, so unless I find that thing we're gonna starve." Hyunjin ignored the very irritated felix once again.

Hyunjin lifted a heavy metal pipe out of his way. "Finally." He let out a sigh of relief after digging up what looked like a badly damaged transmitter. "That was the last of em." Hyunjin said as he threw it to felix who put it into the bag he was carrying. They both started to walk out of the waste land.

"Give that." Hyunjin grabbed the bag off of felix and shoved it on his own back.

"I can carry that you know..." felix pouted. Hyunjin ignored felix again.

"I'm not a baby." Felix muttered under his breath.

"Then get a job without freeloading off of me." Felix slapped Hyunjin's arm. "Oh shut up, besides I work at the orphanage." Felix looked up at the sky and smiled.

"I said a real job, not playing around with children and getting two Zenars." Hyunjin lightly kicked felix. Felix didn't hesitate to kick him right back. "You're good at everything, I'm not." He sounded upset. "Not my problem." Hyunjin shrugged.

"Why do I call you my best friend?" Felix sighed.

"I have no clue."

They passed a few sky high buildings as they walked to the southern market. As usual it was crowded with people, cyborgs and city guards. Merchants were loud, screaming at the top of their lungs advertising their products.

Surviving wasn't easy here. Sian was one of the lowest ranked cities. More gangs, murderers and thieves than decent people. The crime rate was at its highest. The majority of people here were poor and they dreamt of escaping this place.

Hyunjin tapped on the metal back door to the inventor's shop. An old man with a pair of mechanical eyes opened it up.

"Stay here okay? I'll be back soon." Hyunjin said as he entered the shop leaving felix outside. He never took felix inside.

Hyunjin emptied the bag onto the inventor's table. The old man scaned the junk that's crowding his desk very eagerly. "Not bad, I didn't expect you to find a cyborg memory chip." He took the chip and put it into the front pocket of his dirty apron. "That's two extra Zenars." Hyunjin reminded him. "Here." The inventor threw hyunjin a dusty pouch filled with coins. Hyunjin calmly took them out and counted, then put it back into his bag. He walked back to the door but just as he was about to leave the inventor stopped him.

"I think it's time. Come again tomorrow and let your friend inside will you? The boy seems curious." Hyunjin gave him a puzzled look. "Now get out." He pushed hyunjin out of the shop and closed the door behind him.

"How much did you get?" Felix jumped up and down lightly while looking like an excited puppy. Hyunjin smiled "Twenty Zenars. Three for that motherfucker-" hyunjin scoffed. "-Seventeen Zenars are enough for both of us so we're safe." Felix frowned. "He's still your brother." Hyunjin shook his head and didn't reply.

This whole city was divided to three sections. The Southern market, the town hall at the heart of the city and the North wasteland. The other run down apartments and places were spread all around the remaining area.

"You wanna go to the usual place?" Hyunjin asked felix which made him smile. They both started running towards the abandoned apartment and climbed up the outer stairs to the rooftop.

Year 30XX the world was a completely different place. It was after the biggest war that ever happened. The lands were turned into barrons, lots of people died, a lot of animal species went extinct because of the nuclear war that lasted over 30 years but that was years before they were even born.

People who survived the war built 12 cities with their own rulers to protect themselves and Sian was the 10th city. The wasteland, the place all the waste from other cities were thrown to was the only landmark they had. There used to be great inventors who build new things out of those thrown away waste and bring fame to the city but not anymore.

Hyunjin sat at the edge of the rooftop ledge next to felix. The only light was coming from the nearby buildings and the space tunnel.

The space tunnel was the reason why Hyunjin and Felix came to this certain rooftop. So they could watch the colorful space cars passing through the huge transparent tunnel above them.

The weird thing about the cities after the 5th city, Heila it was so polluted the skies were always dark. The only way to realize it was morning was because the skies turned a lighter shade of grey and blue than the pitch black darkness in the night.

"Do you remember our promise?" Felix asked while counting red colored cars. "How can I forget?"  Hyunjin answered while counting the blue ones. It was their game, their promise since the first day they met when they were eleven. Sitting on this rooftop, Felix counting red cars and Hyunjin counting blue cars. The one who counted the most won.

It was just a stupid game they made to pass time when they were little but now it was one of the few things they looked forward to in this dull life.

"I'll take you to see the sun one day." Hyunjin didn't have to look at Felix to know that he was smiling again. "Someday, we'll get out of here together- Thirty okay I definitely won today." Felix said as he jumped up from the ledge brushing off the dust from his pants. "Too bad I counted thirty one." Hyunjin said as they were climbing down the stairs.

"You're lying." Felix narrowed his eyes at Hyunjin.

"You don't know that." Hyunjin smirked as he jumped from the last step and landed on the ground.

Felix rolled his eyes. "Show off. Anyways, You lied because you hate losing. I know you too well." He laughed out loud knowing he was right.

"Oh fuck off." Hyunjin pushed Felix away as they started to walk towards home.
