-Ember-
I scour the shelves for something, anything useful. A sword, knife, axe, anything I can get my hands on. If I'm going to be getting Spark out of Hell I'm going to need some means of protection.
"Come on!" I punch the wall, the cement cracking and chipped. If I'm going to get out of here I need a plan. More importantly I need a portal. I'm pretty sure opening a portal to Hell from Heaven would get me some major attention.
The one thing that is really bugging me is how Spark wasn't able to charm her way into getting a portal or even make one herself. I mean she should have had some opportunity. I mean Coal would've helped her.
My heart seems to break at the mere mention of him. I miss him so much. I wonder if Spark got to meet him. They must've been spending a lot of time together. Wait...if he thinks she's me...no he wouldn't, he would know. Wouldn't he? I quickly push that thought from my mind and focus on the matter at hand.
"Spark is that you?" I hear an all to familiar voice question.
"...yes Caleb it's me." Regret laced in with my words.
"What are you doing in here?" His voice anything but approving.
"What do you think?" I can feel my anger rising. A non stop flourish of heat coursing through my veins. Fuelling me, taking over me.
"Spark I'm so sorry." He sighs. With that exhale of air it's like he has cooled my anger. Turned it to a flowing river, bringing calmness and clarity.
"For what?" My whisper barely heard over the whirring of the lights.
"Everything, you deserve so much better than me. You're so much stronger than you think." He gently tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear. "I honestly never thought I could love anyone with the intensity that I love you."
"Caleb...stop, you dont mean that." I say, my tone slightly harsh.
"Yes Spark. Yes I really do. Now that I have you, I can't ever live without you." His lips brush against mine. "I love every part of you." He closes the millimeters of space that is left between us. The kiss is innocent and timid. Gentle, honest.
I pull him down towards me, deppening the kiss and tightening our embrace. I know he isn't Coal, I know he loves Spark but, for what I'm about to do and what I'm going to put him through, my long term best friend, he deserves this.
We pull apart and he smiles. A genuine Caleb smile. Meant to drive girls crazy.
"Go. Matthew probably needs you. I'll be there soon." My heart heavy when I realize what will happen to him now that my decision is made.
"Okay. I love you." his eyes alight with a pure emotion. I simply nod and watch his retreating figure until I don't see him anymore. After a quick but definitely needed deep breath, I continue my search. The clock ticking faster than ever.
Hastily I grad a few throwing knives and an axe. Clasping them to my belt loops. My escape will have to be even quicker now.
It was already late into the night when I was getting ready and now that I'm ready to leave it is in the early morning.
I quickly maneuver my way to the exterior of the building. Once I'm outside with the crisp cool air filling my lungs. I make a run for it. I sprint at full speed for almost an hour and by then I'm as far away from society as I need to be.
Quickly creating myself a portal, I look behind me, sensing a presence.
Hearing nothing I take a determined jump through the portal. Once I'm in I swear I feel someone touch my shoulder but I close my eyes and brush it off.
Finally I was on my way, all I had to do was get an angel out of Hell without starting a war, that should be fun...
