-Spark-
He slowly gets down on one knee and goes to retrieve something from his pocket...He looks up eyes hopeful and loving.
"W-What are you doing?" I panic, fear taking over my senses.
"Ember..." He says sweetly. "Will you mar-"
"Stop!" Panic rises in my throat. "I can't let you do this!" Then the tears come. I don't think I've ever cried so much in my life.
"Hey hey wow...Ember." His voice gentle and loving. "It's ok. It's ok. You're still my Ember."
Then the tears come even harder. "You see that's the thing..." My throat suddenly closing. " I'm not Ember."
He looks at me quizzically. "Of course you're Ember." Desperation in his voice. "I mean you're not as fierce as you used to be but that's ok I love you anyway. I love you so much." He finishes holding me close, but I push him away.
"I'm not Ember." Tears brimming my eyes. "I'm her twin sister...Spark." His face falls at this. He knows about me, all the signs are there and now he knows.
"Where is Ember?" His voice full of malice. "Where is she!"
I look at him sorrow in my eyes and hatred in his. "Heaven." He drops my shoulders and hangs his head.
"You sent her there didn't you?" He looks up tears threatening to spill.
"No!" I panic. "We switched portals accidentally!" Hopefully he won't hate me so much. Seeing such a pain in his eyes tugs at my heart.
"You need to leave. Now." I look at him hurt that he would say that but he quickly amends. "You're an angel in Hell you need to go."
"Okay. Then I need a portal." My heart rate accelerating at the anticipation of going back to Heaven.
"It's not that simple. There is a slight time delay between Heaven and Hell. You will be gone for a few hours." A seed of dread plants itself in the pit of my stomach.
"So what does that mean? That means I can't go?" Oh no! What have I done?
"It means you need to go at a time where it wouldn't be suspicious if you were gone for a few hours." We both pace back and forth.
"We'll figure it out. You know, Ember really does love you..." I hope this will bring his spirits up.
"I never thought I could love someone so deeply." His eyes twinkle as he says this, making my heart flutter.
Wait what? Heart fluttering, palms sweating, do I...like him? No f course not that's preposterous.
"EMBER! COAL! MEET ME IN THE LOBBY IMMEDIATELY!" My heart drops, what does Lucifer want now?
"Come on." Coal ushers me inside, while still keeping me an arms length away. "We can't keep him waiting."
The lobby is bustling with activity, a nice change from it's usual bleak emptiness.
"What do you want?" I spit, trying to show Coal that I can be just as good as Ember.
"Well since it is your wedding you should have some input." A sneer etched into his voice. "Berta and Greta will be taking you dress shopping. While Coal stays here to help train new warriors."
"Why can't Coal come?" My question causing a thick tension in the air.
"He needs to train new soldiers. No questions!" Then it's like he took a giant pair of scissors and cut my question out of the air, and replaced it with a feeling of his power and our helplessness.
