"We need a nurse!"
Mehdi and Blythe burst into the palace entrance, supporting a lightheaded Theo. He already lost a lot of blood. The prince wasn't an expert when it came to this sort of thing, but judging by Theo's now soaked shirt and the blood covering his palms, Mehdi guessed that at least a litre of blood was already lost.
During the train ride, Mehdi made sure to keep the pressure on the wound, knowing if he didn't, Theo would bleed out and die.
A nurse came running into view, as well as a couple of maids at her side.
"Oh dear," she said at the sight of Theo. "What happened, Your Highness?"
"Our plan didn't go as smoothly as we thought it would," Mehdi responded, scratching the back of his head. "He's already lost a lot of blood," he mentioned.
"We better do this in the lounge room, then," the nurse stated, pursing her lips.
They moved towards the room, Theo hissing at the slight movement in his shoulder.
"We can take Mr. Harwood," the nurse said, stopping outside of the room. "It would be best if you two waited outside."
Mehdi frowned. "Are you sure you don't need any help?" He looked up at Theo. "Or keep him company?"
The nurse gave him a gentle smile. "I'm sorry, Your Highness, but we need as much room as we can. But I'll come get you as soon as we are done."
"Alright..."
"I'll be okay, Mehdi," Theo assured weakly, squeezing Mehdi's hand. "I'll be out in no time," he said with a smile, though there was fear showing in his honey-brown eyes. Mehdi gave him a small smile and let go of Theo's hand, gesturing for the nurse to do her job.
The prince watched the doors close before turning to Blythe, who hasn't said a word since they've gotten back.
"You alright?"
"Yeah," Blythe answered. "Blood makes me queasy, that's all."
Mehdi nodded.
"Mehdi Coden, how dare you go without telling me!"
Mehdi whipped his head in the direction of the yelling, his eyes widening in fear. The queen was marching towards him, still in her nightgown, with a wild look on her face.
"You better have a reasonable explanation for this!" she shrieked, a few feet from Mehdi.
He gulped before answering. "Theo was in trouble! I had to save him!
Kara's expression softened a little and collected Mehdi into a hug. Mehdi hesitated at first but decided to hug her back, not wanting to get a lecture. Again.
"And you!" She suddenly turned to Blythe. "What gave you the idea to even think it was a good idea to bring my son?!"
"It was his idea," Blythe responded.
Kara turned back to her son. "What would your father think?" she asked, disappointment laced in her tone.
Mehdi looked down at the ground. "I'm sorry, I just...I don't know what I would do if Theo died and knowing that I could've saved him..." he said quietly. "I don't want to lose anyone else."
Kara sighed. "Well, I'm glad you're back. I was worried sick!" She held Mehdi's hands in hers. "You should have told me you were going. I would have let you go."
Mehdi looked back up at his mother. "Really?"
"Of course. I wouldn't stop you from rescuing Theo, especially since he's going to be my son-in-law," she said and winked.
