Stiles silently approached his father on the couch. The tv was on, on the news channel.
"Dad." he said. Without speaking, his father shut off the tv.
"Well? What's the story?" Stiles walked around the couch to face his father.
"Derek and I just started dating. I was kind of afraid to tell you, since you blatantly said that I wasn't gay. You're right, I'm not."
"Then what are you?" John looked up at him.
"I'm pansexual." Stiles said with confidence. He had researched it on his laptop once, the day he realized he had a crush on a boy and a girl at the same time.
"And what does that mean?"
"It means gender doesn't matter to me. If I'm attracted to someone, it's not because of their gender," Stiles said. "Boy, girl, trans boy, trans girl, agender, androgynous... I probably missed some gender identities, but you get the idea. I don't pay attention to that."
Stiles' dad nodded. "Do you still like Lydia Martin?"
Stiles winced. "Dad, I'm over her like a jet plane and a light pole, okay? We're best friends now, but that's it."
His father switched the tv back on. "Pizza will be here in ten."
Stiles let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks, dad."
"But if I ever find you at another bar, I will still take you home and kick your ass. You're seventeen, Stiles." Stiles smiled, heading back to his room.
"Okay, dad."
