· a/n: based on day eight of fictober! i'm sort of trying to just quickly spit these out so I have a sort-of consistent fictober schedule every couple of days but I keep adding unnecessary plots that make me write more. xD This idea isn't based on any episode or film, it's just something I scrounged up for the prompt. It's meant to leave you questioning where they are, what happened to this place, and what they were supposed to find (with no answers, hehe).
· prompt: (#8) "I am not doing that again."
· warnings: clumsy obi is the cutest obi

The remains of the ancient temple you had been sent to explore crumbled beneath the soles of your boots as you trekked carefully up the worn steps of what was once the front courtyard. Your footsteps echoed with your partner's, Obi-Wan Kenobi, as he followed closely behind you up the loose slope of debris. Your gaze swept over the ruins as you crossed over the dilapidated threshold, a slumped pile of crumbling stones that were once towering walls of breathtaking architecture.
You hadn't been sure why the council had asked you to come here, or what they thought so intriguing or necessary about whatever it was they hoped you might find.
"What do they expect us to find here?" You asked, wiping the sweat from your brow. The warm climate of this jungle planet was far different from the bustling chill of Coruscant's industrial city.
"They didn't specify, exactly. Master Yoda said we would know when we found it."
"Well, that's characteristically vague," you muttered.
Your feet led you both in different directions as you surveyed the structure and admired the leery beauty of crippled history. There was something left behind here, something serene and melancholic that tugged at your soul – your perceived skill of Sense Echo was keenly tuned into this place. You heard conversations, lessons, and music; just bits and fragments of things that had taken place. It felt similar to your home in the Jedi temple. There were forgotten memories of many childhoods lingering around you.
In one large opening that appeared to have once been a great hall of some sort, you could sense a resonant touch of calm indifference. There was no violence, no anger, not a single trace of malice – and yet, the end of their echoes was abrupt, as if they had been wiped from the surface.
The place had been abandoned, so it seemed.
However, no matter how much you felt around you, you were careful not to attach yourself to the emotions of your findings. This had all happened decades ago, perhaps even centuries. Whatever had happened here was over and done with.
"Sense anything yet?" Obi-Wan asked. His eyes landed on your somber silhouette as you carried yourself carefully through the rubble, gently placing your fingers upon the cracked stones and overgrown foliation.
"This was once a place of peace and celebration filled with many people, a good portion of them children," your eyes considered the collapsing temple around you and the great room you both stood in, and Obi-Wan saw as you turned abruptly as if watching someone run past you, "But something drew them away from here. I can sense their numbers and hear their instruments, their lessons. I can see their valuables; red satin pillows, tassled table cloths, a long table full of spices and warm broth,"
"There is great peace here, great wisdom...it almost feels like home, back in the Jedi temple with the younglings. But then everything goes blank. I can't tell who they were or what their purpose was. It may have been a civil dispute between tribes or an assault that drove them away, but I sense no violence or anger. It's sort of faded out like a patchy signal."
