Dumbledore sat Harry down in his office, they sat across from each other, each on one side of his desk, and if Harry really looked at his Headmaster he could see the nervous glint in his eyes. Dumbledore's eyes were cast toward but not looking at Harry, but more like behind his shoulder, and his fingers were quietly hitting the desk in a pattern, almost if he was fidgeting.

Harry sat with his hands in his lap and his gaze cast down towards the small sliver ring that sat on the desk that looked out of place on Dumbledore's neat desk, if he looked hard enough he could see the faintest initials of T.R and E.P craved in on the front of it. It looked old and the person who owned it obviously wore it often. But it was small, it was certainly made for a small woman, or girl. Harry stared at it with wonder on why it was on Dumbledore's desk and if it had to do with what his Headmaster wanted to talk about and why he had dragged Harry away from dinner for this.

Harry was torn from his thoughts when Dumbledore cleared his throat and looked to the raven haired boy, " I'm going to tell you one word, " Dumbledore started calmly, but there was nerves hiding behind his voice. " one word that controls Voldemort to this day" Harry leaned forward in his seat, ready for whatever horrible thing that Dumbledore was going to through his way. " Evangeline" Dumbledore simply said, ignoring that total confusion and disappointment across Harry's face.

" What?" Harry asked, his dumbfounded look did not leave his face. He couldn't believe that one word would control Voldemort, he honestly thought his Professor was pulling his leg.

" Harry, weather you believe it or not, at one time there was a time where I thought Tom Riddle would of given up the dark arts, to just live a normal life free of Dark Magic and death eaters. A world where Voldemort never existed " the messy, raven haired boy stared at his headmaster, the professor had a dazed look in his eyes like he was remembering something from long ago.

" What do you mean?" the boy asked still confused on where his Professor was going on this, but from the pain that swept across the headmaster's face he knew that it was something big, and pained him to talk about.

" Everyone claims that Tom Riddle could never love anyone, but it wasn't because of who he was but because his heart lied in one person's hands and one person's only."

Harry stare at Dumbledore is shock at what he just heard. Voldemort loved someone? It didn't seem possible, he was cold hearted, cruel, merciless, and evil. Once again Dumbledore ignored the blunt confusion oh Harry' face and continued, " He was so different around her, the only smile that I ever saw grace that boy's face was with Evangeline. He was so deeply in love with her, Harry. But Evangeline loved him just as much. The boy's heart only beat for Evangeline"

Harry stared at his Headmaster, he couldn't wrap his head around that Voldemort truly loved someone, and that they loved him back. " Professor with all due respect why are you telling me this?" Harry asked, he wanted to know what this had to do with him.

Dumbledore sighed, not ready to tell Harry about this, but continued nonetheless, " Miss. Evangeline wasn't a random witch. Her family, they were connected to Voldemort in ways they didn't know" Harry nodded his head, motioning for Dumbledore to keep talking. " Did you know your grandfather had a sister?" the professor asked, waiting for Harry to connect the dots and finish what Dumbledore meant.

Harry looked down at his fingers wondering what Dumbledore was going on about. 'Why would he tell me one thing, then completely change the topic' Harry thought. But then, like a light bulb, Harry finally got what he meant. Harry's head shot up so fast Dumbledore was afraid he got whiplash. " Sir, are you telling me that my great aunt and Voldemort were in love" Harry asked, but it was more of a statement then anything.

Dumbledore nodded his head, and picked up the ring in his wrinkled hands, " This was her's. Tom had got it for her on her birthday" Dumbledore looked at the ring with a longing look. Even to think about Evangeline hurt his heart. Harry looked at the ring, understanding what the initials meant. T.R- Tom Riddle, E.P- Evangeline Potter.

" Why are you telling me this now" Harry asked, he knew Dumbledore wouldn't tell him something so out of the blue, he knew this had to do with something.

" Well, Harry, I'm going to tell you a story" Dumbledore said, placing the ring in a draw in his desk, " I'm going to tell you about Miss. Potter and how Tom Riddle almost gave up everything for a small, caring Hufflepuff"
