I ran away from the Koliseum as fast as I could, leaving Cetrion and Geras behind, never looking back. If I knew better, then I would have killed Cetrion too, but time was running, and not in my favor. Running was my only option and I had to find the nearest ship.
There was so much going on through my head while I was running : will I ever see father again? Or Kitana? Who is this Kronika and why does she want to restart history?
In other words, I wasn't thinking
straight. In fact, I never was.I know what you think : how can I miss my sister when all I want to do is crush her until her very last breath. Unfortunately, I can't help but have a killer instinct : I was born with it, been taught to live with it too. But part of me loves her, and I know she doesn't feel the same way about me, because I think she wants me dead too. I wish Jade would also be my friend, but again, I have a million reasons why it's not a good idea.
After everything that happened, the storm, Cetrion, Geras, it felt like I had left my whole life behind me at the Koliseum. It was the first time I shed tears, ever since I came out of the flesh pits. Only the elder gods know I never cry, but I couldn't help myself.
Suddenly, I heard a crack. I started feeling like I was being watched.
"Show yourself!" I said out loud.
Looking around me, I then realized I was in the living forest. But right now, it seems that this forest doesn't live up to it's name. I remember when I just got out of the flesh pits, I ran out of Shang Tsung's laboratory and found myself here. Usually you can see the branches are moving, and you can hear the trees communicating with each other. Legend says they have their own language and communicate through telepathy. All we could hear, as beings made of flesh, was whispering. Oh and the trees feed themselves with human bodies. Since I am half tarkatan, it was safe for me walking around.
I thought what I heard was the sound of a living tree eating someone alive, but even the hanging corpses inside the mouths of the trees were gone. But then, someone finally decided to come out of the shadows. It was a woman : she was wearing a dark green outfit, her skin color was darker than any other skin color I've ever seen, and her eyes were deadly orange.
"I thought we were done with you." She said to me.
I immediately recognized her voice : it was Jade. She looked very different compared to when I saw her in the Coliseum a few hours ago. Of course it wasn't the Jade I know, but it was her revenant.
"Jade I-"
"Hold your tongue, monster. Unfortunately, my orders are not to kill you, but you are to come with me at once."
"Jade, I have no wish to fight you right now, step out of the way."
"I'm afraid I can't."
Before I could say anything else, Jade charged, dash kicking me in my ribs. Her strength was on another level and she was way stronger than she used to be. But something else was off, and I'm not even talking about her appearance : she had this dark aura surrounding her, enough darkness to give your opponent goosebumps.
Don't get me wrong, I wasn't afraid of the dark, and it's not like I had the time to care about childhood traumas, since I never really had a childhood. But this situation was different. She was different.
I had to think of a plan, and quick.
