"WHAT? THEY GOT into a fight?"

the third year players were with tanaka, listening as he relayed the information about what happened with their team's freak duo. kenji was leaning against a closed window beside daichi, deep in thought.

"but this isn't the first time they've ever fought, is it?" daichi said, gazing outside the window.

"come to think of it, they were fighting even before they turned in their membership applications." tanaka recalled.

"eh?" kenji was surprised. "those two really are trouble..." he mumbled.

sugawara told the story, of the vice principal's wig flying and daichi shutting them out the gym. kenji would've thought it funny if he's not worried for his kouhais.

"well, that also means they've gotten over those things too..."

"right? so i think we should just believe in them and wait." daichi said. kenji sighed. alright then...

KENJI SPENT THE two following weeks helping the team practice. he assisted and gave tips to asahi and yamaguchi on their serves. asahi was very thankful for his help (he grinned at kenji so innocently the brunet swore he saw a bright light) whereas yamaguchi was very honored for his help. however, kenji was annoyed at himself that he forgot to talk to the said first year. during his first day, he recognized yamaguchi as the one who attempted the jump float serve on their match against aoba johsai. he was supposed to talk to him and give advice, but then... he got distracted.

he observed kageyama's practice too. he was happy both kageyama and hinata, who goes to coach ukai's grandfather's place to practice, were trying their best to improve. once they're successful, they'll be a force to reckon with.

he also discussed strategies and tactics with coach ukai, finally suggesting everything that's been on his mind for months. the coach also came up with similar ideas, so there were no conflicts. he said they'll try them at the week-long camp, and possibly at the spring-high preliminaries itself.

kenji, unlike everyone else, was not focusing on improving a new skill. instead, he gave tips and helped the managers. he really found yachi's personality cute, and he liked spending time with both females. it's also because he somehow found his legs aching more than usual, so he gave himself more time to rest them.

he also spent more time with his brother, helping him review for his high school entrance exam to his dream school, which he won't tell kenji for some reason. kenshi already received a recommendation letter that says they'll be honored if the 14 year old attended their school, but kenshi said he wanted to pass the exam on his own acccord. something about chances and silver platters. he's complicated like that.

it's now the day of the week-long training camp. they left the school late at night, and they arrived early in the morning. everyone was still sleepy and groggy except hinata. he won't shut up about transmission towers being the tokyo sky-tree. kenji found it funny.

they went inside and greeted the other occupants in the gym. they then started to warm up and stretch. kenji spotted yaku and gave him an enthusiastic wave with his closed eye smile.

"all right. we're gonna switch out members constantly this time around, so be prepared." coach ukai told the team.

"hai!"
