(Y/N's POV)
We made our way to a huge door that looks like it was built for a giant.
Klein: So Urd wants us to fight this giant guy?
Y/N: Well to summarize, some asshole named Thrym, who has an entire kingdom named after him, wants to conquer not only Jötunheimr, but the rest of ALfheim. He's jibaiting other people do his dirty work of killing Tonkii's species, and their reward will be a bootleg Excalibur, Caliburn, even though the quest he put up said you would earn Excalibur. The dickhead doesn't want anyone to get it out of here, or else this entire place will go back to its green hill zone type form. We have to defeat him and take back Excalibur before his minions and the other players kill Tonkii's species, making Urd and her sisters powerless, and allowing him to invade the rest of ALfheim. The weird thing about this whole thing is how in the hell did the GMs let something like this happen without any notice?
Kirito: That pretty much sums up everything, but I think you're right. I don't know if the GMs would do something like that with no update or warning. Normally, you'd have at least week's notice.
We made it to the door and nothing happened.
Y/N: Do we push it or pull it open? Oh, wait, it doesn't have any handles....
Kirito: Yui, what's wrong?
Yui got off of his shoulder and flew in front of all of us.
Yui: Well, this is just a hypothesis...
We all looked at her listening closely.
Yui: But in 1 respect, ALfheim Online differs greatly from the other The Seed Project VRMMOs. The Cardinal System operating the game is not a stripped-down version. It's a copy of the full-spec version used in the former Sword Art Online.
Y/N: What's that mean?
Kirito: Full-spec version?
Yui: The original Cardinal System had an auto-generation system for quests. Via its networks, it gathered traditions and legends from all over the world and used or rearranged terms and story patterns from them to generate infinite quests.
Kirito: Then, is this quest an auto-generated one that Cardinal made?
Yui: From the way that NPC was acting, it's likely.
Y/N: It's a double edged sword. On one hand, it's great that quests can be generated infinitely without the GMs needing to do anything. But one the other hand, that's kinda bad because then shit like this quest happens and what's even worse is the fact that the GMs probably don't know anything about it.
Yui: Uncle's right. Depending on how the story plays out, it could go all the way to the myth's end. According to my data in my archives, this quest and ALO itself are based on Norse mythology, which culminates in a so-called "final war."
Y/N: We're in the endgame now....
Everyone started to get a little worried.
Yui: Not only will the frost giants invade from Nilfheim or Jötunheimr, but flame giants from an even lower level, Muspelheim, will appear, and burn down the entire World Tree...
