taylor, a single mother trying her best to raise her 5 year old daughter, elle. one day, out of the blue, awsten follows taylor back, unleashing years of unresolved issues.

it was hard to get used to being home for the marten-knight family. awsten had meetings to go to over zoom, elle had remote kindergarten, which was...interesting to say the least, taylor was taking it the hardest.
the diner started doing take out, so taylor had to go to work and being back at work was interesting. kyle wore a normal disposable face mask, max wore a super crazy designed face mask, and taylor wore one of awsten's old black ones because their new facemasks would come in by the end of the following week.
taylor wasn't super crazy about being an essential worker. she was scared about bringing germs and sickness back to her family. kyle assured her she could stay home, but taylor was stubborn about it. she needed the money, as far as she was concerned. awsten had money, his net worth was growing, but awsten lived in los angeles and although he was staying with taylor, he didn't live with her. they didn't share finances, and even if they did, taylor couldn't quit the diner. max and kyle were just as much her family as nick and elle. taylor worked at the diner for five years, she was there to watch max (who was sixteen at the time) join the crew and watched her grow into the classy, sassy woman she is compared to the quiet, shy girl she was four and a half years prior.
elle's kindergarten zoom was chaotic. awsten remained the stay at home parent for her, making taylor more relaxed, but even he was getting overwhelmed. it was obvious the teacher didn't know what was happening or how do do anything either, and teaching a five year old to use zoom took patience, on both ends.
"okay, so, elle, can you tell me what 2+2 is?" the teacher asked.
"elle, remember what we talked about? hit the unmute button and answer her." awsten reminded her.
elle clicked the hang up button.
awsten was exausted.
taylor and awsten grew into a routine. taylor came home from work at 6, instead of the usual 9:30, took a shower, threw her clothes in the wash, gave awsten a quick kiss and watcher him make dinner while helping elle with her homework. they ate dinner, watched a disney movie, put elle to sleep and watched youtube in bed until falling asleep.
taylor did indeed steal awsten's hoodie, wearing it for the majority of her time home. it smelled like him and was bulky on her. she stole awsten's fandom tour hoodie when she went to visit him in january, and was growing a collection.
