once it was safe enough, awsten's parents invited taylor, awsten and elle over for dinner.

taylor frantically searched her closet for something nice to wear, while awsten reassured her she's fine and they love her and wouldn't care. taylor did care, however. she'd known the knight's for thirteen years at that point and wanted to keep the respect she earned. this was the first time they would see taylor and awsten back together, aswell.

eventually she got ready and got elle strapped in her car seat, getting in as well. the house was a twenty minute drive from where they lived.

awsten handed taylor the aux cord and told hee to play something. taylor asked elle, who enthusiastically yelled

"the sex song!"

"no!"awsten and elle yelled in return.

they ended up agreeing on cluster, being it was taylor's favorite ep. awsten sang along and taylor watched, smiling. every once and a while he'd take her hand and kiss her knuckles while he was driving, making her smile wider than she was.

after some driving (and a switch to entertainment cause it had the least curse words), they arrived at the knight's home. taylor took elle out of her seat and straightened her dress.

"you have nothing to worry about." awsten reminded her. she took a big gulp and put on a smile as they walked to the door. almost instantly upon knocking, the door opened.

"awsten! taylor!" ginny, awsten's mother, yelled. she pulled the two into a hug. "oh and my grandbaby! elle, come here!" elle stood behind her mom.

"elle, this is your grandma, i don't know if you remember her." taylor explained. elle stayed behind taylor. ginny laughed.

"oh that's okay. come in! dinner is almost ready." she walked into the house.

the house was just as taylor remembered. she remembered when she first came to babysit gracie. gracie was ten at the time, and adored taylor. taylor took the job to spend time with awsten and to get out of the house. in recent months, ever since taylor met emma, taylor and her father started getting along better.

awsten's father, roscoe, was sat on the couch in the living room. awsten, taylor and elle sat on the other couch.

"it's so nice to see you again, taylor!" he greeted. they had small banter until dinner was ready. at the dinner table, a question arose.

"so do you guys think you'd ever get married?"

awsten choked on his food and taylor spit back into her drink. they collected themselves briefly.

"we uh, we haven't talked about that." taylor's face was more red than the dining room walls.

"i'm only asking because you guys were engaged the last time." ginny looked to her husband for reassurance. "sorry."

"it's okay, don't worry about it." awsten weakly smiled. he had a plan. he always did.
