Me and Alexa ran, but not that far. "We have to go back." Alexa said, breaking free from my grip on her. "Are you crazy? Kane will just kill us both like he did to father." I said, trying to convince my self more than her. "But what if father is still alive?" she said. That was all I needed. "Lets go. But be careful." I said. We crept up to where father was. He was agains't a wall, his chest rising up and down. "Father!" Alexa screamed. She ran towards him. "Children." he said, struggling to sit up. "NO father. Stay down. Don't hurt yourself." I said, rushing into position him back onto his corner. "Children, children. I have one important thing to tell you." he said, struggling to breathe. He didn't have much time left. "What is it." Alexa said, but his eyes were drifting off. "No! No no no no father please no. Tell us. TELL US!" she cried. "Trust..trust absolutely no one. You hear me. If you know what's good for you, trust-" he was cut off by a massive coughing fit, blood was everywhere. "HELP! SOMEONE! ANYONE!" Alexa said, but to no avail. "Alexa" he said, sorrow filling his eyes. "You were born for greatness. From the moment I held you in my arms. Your tiny fingers wrapped around one of mine. When you skinned your knee and didn't cry. When you stood up for Aiden. You were my girl. I would have loved to walk you see you get be betrothed, and eventually get married. I won't get to walk you down the temple stairs." he said. Alexa was crying. "And you Aiden. When you baked a loaf of bread for a common villager because he was hungry. When you got in front of your class and proved the tutor wrong. You are such a wise and intelligent and caring boy." he said to me. Tears were working their ways into my eyes, but I needed to be strong for him. "I love you both so much. And If you ever see your mother, tell her I loved her when she was here." And then, he was gone. His life stolen from by a savage cretin that goes by the name Kane. As Alexa laid crying, I vowed that I would avenge him. I would avenge my father.
