Agnetha couldn't remember who's idea it was to take in an Au pair. Was it Björn's, in an attempt to give them more time for themselves? Or was it his in an attempt to have more time for work? Maybe it had been Benny's well meant advice to bring a bit of life back into their marriage. It could even have been Frida's, though with everything that was about to happen she doubted that. In any case it certainly wasn't Agnetha's. In the beginning she was very sceptical of the idea - a foreign stranger coming to live with them to help take care of her child and household chores. But then she got pregnant again, and realized, maybe she does need some more help around the house with two kids and being away all the time. Heaven knows, she could indeed have some more time alone with Björn. So it was decided, they would take in an Au pair.
Björn was suprised when Agnetha told him that she gave the idea another thought. He had just about given up the idea when she changed her mind. Then when it was time to decide who they would let into their home and family, Agnetha made the decision very hard. She had someone specific in mind, as a condition for agreeing with Björn's plan. You certainly wouldn't just let any stranger do this type of work. So Björn set out to seek the help of an agency. With the list of Agnetha's criteria growing the lady on the otherside of the phone said it might take them some time to find a match and it might even be impossible to find someone that matches all of the points, but they certainly would try. And try they did.
Agnetha was just a few days away from giving birth to their second child, when the phone rang. It was the lovely lady from the agency again, they had managed to find a perfect match. Agnetha was baffled, still not 100% on board with the idea, she had subconsciously set the bar so high that it was impossible reach, but someone managed to do so. An eager girl from Germany, 20 years old, just finished her training for a job in child care. They would mail her portfolio and contract as soon as possible, said the woman from the agency.
And with that it would be a sealed deal. Agnetha's and Björn's new Au pair would start in the beginning of the new year.
