"As third years you will be carrying out your most important internships while here at UA." Cementoss, your homeroom teacher, was probably the most lack-luster teacher you've had but at least he kept things cut and dry. "Since this is the business course after all, you've been individually matched to relevant agencies with business divisions that are willing to take interns."
You looked down at the sheet Cementoss passed out. Only one? And it was Uwabami's agency. You'd rather die than intern there again. You glanced at the papers on the desks beside you. Everyone else seemed to get multiple choices. Must be nice to have a fancy quirk; it's not like you weren't excelling test-wise. You were older than everyone else after all. It seems like quirks are all agencies are interested in these days. You would think the agencies would be more apt to go off of grades since you would be working behind the scenes anyway.
The look on your face must have been visibly uncomfortable since Cementoss followed up with, "This isn't an exclusive list, class. If you manage to get in touch with an agency not on your list, as long as they fill out the proper paperwork, you can intern elsewhere."
You left out a sign of relief. Apparently the difficult part of your internship had already begun. You HAD to figure out where else you could go.
The rest of the class period was spent discussing expectations and the final assignment. You were to write a twenty page final essay on your agency's use of marketing and overall business structure. Since most of the school year would be spent interning you were also expected to turn in weekly check-in assignments. This was expected as your older friends always complained about them last year, but it seemed like a lot more work when it was actually your responsibilty.
"Class is dismissed," Cementoss interrupted your in depth thought process of how you were going to pick an agency.
"(L/N)- san, a second." Cementoss motioned a finger towards you. Everyone else had already left but you hadn't even put your belongings back in your bag.
You looked up to see your teacher nearly inches away from your desk. "Sorry sir, I didn't mean to zone out during class. I just was a little overwhelmed that I only got one match," you told him admittedly.
He gave you an understanding half-smile. "That's what I wanted to discuss with you. Looking over your form I knew that you'd be a little upset with only one offer." You gave him a slight nod. It wasn't your intention to take it harshly but your quirk often made your own emotions very confusing for you. Deep down you knew that your very slim pickings were only because you failed a year. It didn't make it suck any less.
"I asked the other teachers and faculty during our meeting this morning if any were willing to have you at their agency."
You stared at Cementoss shocked. No teacher has gone out of their way to show that sort of kindness towards you. Your homeroom teacher especially was the last person you expected to do any such thing.
"I expect a few of them to approach you about it. Please be on your best, most respectable manner when they do. I put in a good word for you and if you choose one of them, you will have high expectations," he finished.
"Wow! Thank you Cementoss sensei! I really appreciate it," you excited back. Just like that it felt like a weight had been lifted off of your shoulders. You didn't care if you had to work a hundred times harder.
"You're welcome (L/n)san," he responded cheerfully. "Now get going, you don't want to miss your next class."
"Luckily I have a free period next!" You grabbed your notebook and pencil case and without even putting them in your bag you skipped out the door. 'I wonder which teachers will offer me an internship,' you thought.
