Chapter 31: Father and Son

Third Person

AFO moves forward, wasting no time in attacking his nemesis. All might blocks the attack, but the shockwave causes the wall to be blown to bits. The hero and villain begin to trade blows, the hero leading the fight away from the teens.

The teens shake off their shock and focus on their captured friends. Dabi goes forward, melting off Midoriya's chains with his fire. Ochaco grabs the small girl, intent on bringing her to safety.

"Let's get out of here," Iida says, grabbing his friend so they can flee before things get worse.

"No." Izuku's refusal surprises them all.

"Don't fucking tell me that you're going to try and fight that asshole!" Bakugo exclaims.

"I need to!" He replies.

"Why?! So you can get revenge?!" Katsuki fires back.

Izuku scowls, "You don't understand!"

"Then explain." Shoto's voice cuts through the shouting match, causing both parties to go quiet.

"Yes I want revenge, but I also know that All Might isn't strong enough to fight him! Besides that, All Might would just capture him. All for one needs to be killed, that's the only way to stop him!" Izuku briefly explains.

"Killing is wrong, no matter who it is!" Iida says, horrified that his friend could think that.

"Last time this happened, AFO was left alive. DO you know what he did then? He killed each and every one of you and destroyed society. If he isn't killed now, people will die!"

Explosions rock the city behind them as the two strongest quirk holders go head to head. Neither of them are able to gain the upper hand but it's clear that All Might is rapidly approaching his limit.

"If you kill, you'll become just like them!"

"What's better, killing one or letting thousands die?!"

Iida falls silent at the argument, not knowing what to say.

"We're in the way aren't we?" Ochaco speaks for the first time since they arrived.

"Are you seriously ok with this?!" Iida says.

"Midorya's right." Dabi glances at Midoriya, "If you have the chance to end it all here, do it."

Iida sighs knowing that continuing the argument will get them nowhere.

They look at him in worry, not wanting their friend to get hurt again.

"Please don't die." Ochaco pleads.

Midoriya smiles at them, "Don't worry, I'll be fine. I killed him before, I can do it again."

He turns towards the opening and leaves.

"Kick his ass!" He grins as he hears Katsuki call after him.

All Might glares at his enemy, "You will not be able to hurt anyone anymore!"

All for one laughs, "You're going to stop me? You can barely stand!"

"I'll be helping, of course."

Izuku uses their moment of surprise to attack All for one. He easily blocks the attack and pushes his son away. Using a quirk, he makes himself float into the air, intent on making it harder for the heroes. To his surprise, Izuku follows suit.

"You're not the only one who has tricks up their sleeves," Midoriya exclaims.

All for one grins and moves in to strike. Both man and teen engage in a furious battle. They use enhancement quirks to make them faster, as a result, they look like blurs to everyone else.

AFO manages to land a hit on Izuku, which sends him flying.

"You're good for a child, too good."

"I've learned from the best," Midoriya answers snarkily.

The villain stares at Midoriya for a moment as the gears in his mind start to turn. Then, everything clicks.

A small laugh, which turns into a cackle, comes from the man as the realization hits him.

"You, you're the one who used the time travel quirk."

Izuku frowns, wondering how the man knew that.

"How-"

AFO cuts him off, "It matters not. I understand everything now."

A bad feeling comes over Izuku. He realizes that the man must be planning something and knows whatever it is, it won't be good.

Deciding to waste no time, goes to attack once more. Unfortunately, he isn't able to land a hit on the man as the villain appears in front of him.

The man grabs Izuku's arm and a burning sensation comes from the touch. Midoriya kicks him away, ignoring the pain. He growls at his father, but before he can do anything the man speaks.

"I'll see you again soon, my son."

All for one flicks his wrist, sending a ball of energy towards his son. Izuku raises a barrier to block it. Instead of intercepting it, the ball explodes. Midoriya is thrown backward. Another energy bomb hits him causing him to fall from the sky. He hits the ground with a loud boom.

"Midoriya!" All Might runs forward to help his student.

Izuku stands, waving off the concern. He wipes blood from his mouth and looks franticly for the villain.

"Fuck!" Izuku exclaims.

"Midoriya?" All Might asks.

"That fuc-" A wave of dizziness suddenly hits him.

Midoriya sways, clutching his head as a headache begins to form.

He hears a voice calling out to him, but it begins to fade. The black dots begin to grow until they completely consume his vision.
