Izuku's POV
I open my last box, pulling out comics and notebooks.
Similar to my last life, UA convinced the parents to let the students move into the dorms.
A knock on my door interrupts my work. I turn towards it and tell the person to come in.
The door opens revealing a certain red and white-haired teen.
"Shoto?" I say smiling a bit.
I'm surprised to see him. I thought he's still working in his room. Still, I'm glad to see he's happy.
His entire demeanor has changed since his father was arrested. Shoto is much more carefree and happy than he was before.
Thankfully the whole situation with Enji worked out, and now Shoto and his family are free from the bastard's influence.
"Izuku, can I talk to you for a moment?" He asks tentatively.
"Sure," I say without hesitation.
He enters the room, closing the door behind him.
"Thank you." He says, his gaze full of sincerity.
"For what?" I ask, confused.
"For what you did with my father. For bringing my family back together. For everything really."
I rub the back of my neck in embarrassment, "It's no big deal. You're my friend, of course, I should help you."
"Still, you've done more for me than anyone, I don't think I could ever repay you." He says.
I smile, "There's no need for repayment, didn't you listen to a word I said? We're friends."
I see a blush spread across his face as he looks away, "Thank you."
I merely grin back. He leaves the room, letting me get back to my unpacking.
**Time Skip**
My conversation with Momo is cut short as we reach the end of the stairs. The rest of class A came to be seen, hanging around and relaxing.
Me and Momo part ways as I head towards the kitchen to grab something to eat.
Looking around in the cabinets, I debate on whether to heat up ramen or make something else.
"What are you doing?"
I jump as Kacchan's voice startles me.
"Don't sneak up on me like that!" I say.
He smirks, not replying.
"As for what I'm doing," I continue, "I'm trying to figure out what to eat."
Katsuki goes quiet for a moment, "Do...do you want me to make you something?"
I blink, then smile, "Yes!"
I've had Katsuki's cooking countless times, but it can never get old. I'm not a bad cook myself, but I'm nothing compared to Katsuki.
I sit on a stool, watching him cook from the counter. As I watch him, memories suddenly assault me. I feel myself being pulled into one.
Flashback
Katsuki flicks his wrist, expertly flipping the rice in the pan.
Behind him, I clap, impressed by the movements.
Kacchan puffs out his chest in pride, then bursts into laughter.
I join in, finding myself on the floor as I try to catch my breath. I manage to compose myself and stand, taking my seat once more.
Kacchan places a plate of fried rice in front of me, sitting down next to me with the same serving.
Soon enough, the food is gone, and we find ourselves wrapped in a conversation.
"Izuku," He begins tentatively.
I look up at him in surprise. He never calls me by my name.
"What?" I ask, curious.
"I'm sorry."
Once more I'm taken aback by his sudden apology.
Before I can respond he continues, "I'm sorry for everything I did to you. I"m sorry that I bullied you. I'm sorry I never realized how much you care for me. I'm sorry."
His voice breaks as he finishes his speech. I know he means the things he's saying.
I smile. I had forgiven him years ago. That doesn't mean I trusted him completely, but I forgave him. Over the years, he changed. Yes, he was still prideful, and he could be loud at times. But he became a better person. With all the death and destruction happening around us, we became closer. We became the friends we used to be.
I reach out to hug him. Although he usually hates contact like this I think he could use it at the moment.
"Ka-"
BOOM!
My eyes flutter open. All I can hear is a loud ringing. The smell of copper and fire fills my lungs. I blink away the blurriness and refocus my vision.
What I see leaves me in shock. As I try to sit up and try to make sense of the things around me, A sharp pain from my arm makes me look down. My arm is twisted in a way it shouldn't be. No doubt it's broken.
I ignore the pain for now and manage to sit up.
All I can see is rubble. Fires sprout from various places. I see people, or part of them, scattered about. Some look alive, while most are dead.
'Kacchan!'
The thought of my friend breaks me from my horrified trance. Although my arm is broken, I force myself to stand and call out in the ruins.
I don't stop looking, with each passing moment, I become more frantic to find my friend. Then I see it, a mop of that oh so familiar hair. Relief pours through me.
"Kacchan!" I call, making my way over the rubble and towards him.
As I get closer, I notice the blood. I freeze in horror, a few feet from the scene. Kaachan lays on some rubble. A metal pipe running through him, making him look like a human skewer.
"K-kacchan!" I say, going closer in the hopes that my eyes are lying to me.
But, the closer I get, the more I realize that this is the truth. His bones are broken in several places. One of his arms is missing. But I could care less about those things.
I drop to my knees next to him, letting out a cry of pain.
'How many more people will die because of me?!'
Flashback End
"Izuku?"
I flinch, blinking the memories away and trying to ground myself back to reality.
"Are you ok man?" Kirishima asks worriedly.
I look down at the counter as the memories once more flash through my head.
For one moment, I can hear the voices, whispering to me.
But, then I feel a comforting hand on my shoulder. Looking up, I see Shoto and the rest of my friends.
He doesn't say a word, but he merely gives me a reassuring smile.
That smile is all I need though.
"I'm fine," I say, and this time, I really mean it.
Third Person
Red eyes slowly open. The man (or rather teenager) sits up.
Looking down, a twisted smile appears on his face.
Laughing wickedly, the teen murmurs to himself, "Now, I can really have fun."
