emily pov: once we landed in the city of anchorage, alaska we all made our way to our assigned tasks. jj, y/n, and i were all sent to the police station to set up and talk with the families. when i parked the suv, we all got out and made our way into the building. jj introduced us to the lead detective and he showed us the conference room where we could set up.

immediately i could tell that one of the younger officers was looking at y/n and seemed to be a little too bold for my liking. i protectively put my hand on her lower back and kept it there as i followed her and jj into the room.

once we were inside, i closed the door and y/n shot me a look of confusion. i brushed it off and focused my attention to helping jj set up the board. y/n sat down at the table and looked over at the case file. as soon as i was standing next to jj, she whispered to me, "emily, i know you like her but you need to stay professional when the local pd look at y/n like that." i looked at jj a bit taken aback and she gave me a knowing look before i whispered back, "jj, i told her i loved her... and she told me she loved me back..." and to this jj was the one to be surprised.

"holy shit.. emily are you serious?" i looked at jj and just nodded a little bit embarrassed. she just hugged me and as i looked over her shoulder, i saw y/n looking at us, knowing damn well what i had just told jj and she just winked at me. i couldn't help but blush.

y/n pov: i knew that officer was checking me out.. i was a little oblivious but not THAT blind. i knew emily was jealous the second she but her hand on my lower back and smiled to myself in response to her actions.

 emily was jealous.

once we were in the conference room, i sat down and continued to look over the case file. i looked up to see jj and emily hugging, and i knew emily had told jj about the words we had exchanged less than 24 hours ago. i didn't bother me that jj knew; she was emily's best friend and the person i was closest to on the team aside from emily. plus, i knew she could keep a secret. i winked at emily and saw the blush arise on her cheeks and all i could do was smile.

i thought back to the first time morgan and i had a real conversation and he told me about how he had never seen emily nervous around someone until she met me. after a few hours and talking with one of the victim's families, hotch ordered us all to head back to the hotel for a few hours of rest, seeing as it was now about three in the morning.

once emily and i made it back to the hotel, we had learned that we were in separate rooms, and i was with jj. i didn't complain because honestly i kind of wanted to talk to someone about everything. i had entered the room and jj looked at me a bit surprised, "well what a pleasant surprise!" she sad standing up and hugging me. i hugged her back and she said she was just about to take a shower.

while she was in the bathroom, i got a text from emily.

emily: i have to admit i'm a little bit jealous that jj gets you for this case 

i smirked at my screen and decided to tease her a little bit.

y/n: oh, i know that's not the only thing you've gotten jealous about on this case ;)

emily: what can i say? im protective over what's mine...

i smiled a little bit and continued to press her buttons.
