chapter 4

next thing el new she awoke to a soft bagging on the front door of the cabin. She listen to the knock and realised that it was hops secret knock, but before she could get up to open it el realised that max was fast asleep on els lap. Eleven looked down at max and tuck a strand of her fiery red hair behind her ear to reveal her freckled cover rose cheeks.  eleven hadn't seen max this peaceful in a while, max was alway on edge since billy had died, she rarely smiled or laughed, but now in this moment el saw that max was at some kind of peace.

so carefully she shuffled out from under maxes head and open the latches to the door, to reveal hop standing in the doorway holding his hat in his hand. Hop walked in and saw max asleep on the kitchen floor of the cabin, "how is she?" hop asked.

"not good. Sad," el softly spoke. "really sad,"

"alright kid, you take max to your room she need to rest, then we can take more, Okay?"

"ok," el said as she softly nudged max and assisted her to her bed. she laid max down and tucked her in with her blanket, eleven couldn't help but admire her beautiful face, and her soft breathing as she slept. as el slowly crept out the room to talk to hop about what happened she hear maxes soft voice say "El,", el turned around to see max with her eyes slightly ropen staring at her.

"yes max,"

"can you, ummm. Stay?"

"oh yeah of course," el stuttered, she didn't expect this from max, sure max and el used to sleep in the same bed at sleep over. But back then she was dating mike, but still always got the funny feeling around max.

so without further thinking el took off her jacket and laid it on the back of her desk chair, then got in the bed behind max so they were back to back.

then without el realizing she drifted off to sleep.

2:14 am Monday

el woke up suddenly and look at the time, it read 2:14 am, she had fallen asleep! But before she put her head back down to go back to sleep, she realized that she had turned over in her sleep and was spooning max, with her arm wrapped around her. She felt so safe with max and once again got that wired feeling in the bottom of her stomach, but why? It was a nice feeling el had never felt before, she never felt around mike or Lucas not even dustin. Only max. Then el laid her head back down on maxes back and snuggled up to her and fell asleep again.

"El, el sweetheart wake up," Joyce said as she gently nudged el until she began stirring slowly open her eyes to the dimly lit bedroom, she saw Joyce standing over her looking around the room.

"Joyce," eleven said in a husky morning voice,

"Eleven, your awake, now carefully get up carefully thought dont wake max."

eleven with a little help from Joyce got up and stepped over maxes sleeping body. eleven slipped on her dressing gown and peer and the time it read 9:24 am

she then quickly followed Joyce into the kitchen. As her eyes adjusted to the harsh morning sunlight, she saw lot's of faces staring in her direction.  will was sitting on the couch next to Nancy and Robin who were all looking concerned at eleven. hop and Joyce were sat at the table, they both had steaming hot coffees and were chatting quietly. Hop pulled out a chair from the table and placed it in the room and gestured for el to sit down.

El took a seat and will got up and walked over to el. He hugged her really tight and then walked into the kitchen to get a drink .

"El, hop said breaking the silence, "when i went to arrest Neil yesterday, i um got to his house and broke down the door, but ummm, he err wasn't there. He's run away all the clothes are gone and both car and he's taken maxes mother Susan with him.

"what! b-but were is max going to live she hasn't got anyone else,"

"Eleven calm down, Joyce said in a calming gentile voice. "listen, we've all talk alot about this and Robin is going to take max,"

"WHAT!" el screamed, "NO, max has to stay with me! I'm her bestfriend,"

"woooaah kid, its okay and i work so much i cant have another kid in the house," Hop said managing to calm el down, "and you dont need to worry, Robin is a good kid, I've know her since she was around Holly's age and she will take good care of max.

eleven had never felt this way before she was being so protective of max, but she just didn't know why.

"hey and el," robin spoke up, " i have a good job working at the video store with Harrington and i live in a apartment right next to Hawkins high so max wont have fare to walk to school. she'll be staying in our spare room it has a twin bed and a closet, "Robin said

"Our?" el questioned

"I'm sorry el i dont get what you mean" robin questioned,

"you said our, who do you live with,"

"oh right, umm my umm G-girlfriend, her name is Jamie but i call her JJ,"

eleven look at robin perplexed, Girlfriend,". eleven knew that is was normal for girls to like other girls and boys to like other boys and she also new that robin and will were like that. Will told elven first that he liked only boys and eleven found out that robin liked girls from max who got told by Lucas who got told by Erica who got told by Dustin who got told by Steve who got told by Robin herself. but of course robin told Steve her could tell his "kids".

"Umm el," Joyce changed the conversation, "we brought Robin and Nancy because we umm,"

Joyce stop and gestured to hop and will to leave, they both left. "anyway, we bought Nancy and robin because,  we need to see maxes, umm injury's, have you seen them?

Eleven gulped and nodded timidly, " i saw them the other night," i told hop a little, but not really"

"okay, sweetie that's okay we need you to go and wake up max and tell her that we need to come in, in a minute and look so we can file a police report and make sure she's okay, that were Robin you and Nancy come, i thought she would feel most comfortable with you three and ill wait out here with the boys. Do you understand?"

El nodded again and turned the door knob to her bedroom to go and tell max,"

hey guys, so i no i haven't updated in years and i not making any promises but were i live we are in tier 4 lockdown at the moment and we are going to be for the whole of Christmas :(.

so hopefully ill have more time to update and this story can actually get somewhere, cause it has potential i guess. thank for reading
