"So how does it work with gay marriage, you take his last name or does he take yours, or...?"
"Right now, I'm honestly just excited that Kurt said yes." Blaine interrupted Sam before the boy could rant too much, as the two of them and Emily sat together by the piano, waiting for Mr. Schue so their first lesson of the week could start. "Hey, are you looking forward to prom? I fell asleep last night while Tina was texting me about her prom dress."
"It's really nice, you know?" Emily said, as both boys turned to look at her. "What you did for her, I mean. And that Ryder is going with her. She's so excited about it too."
"Tell me about it." Blaine chuckled. "She couldn't stop talking about hoping to be prom queen."
"Yeah, she's as obsessed as Quinn used to be." Sam pointed out as Emily turned to him with a frown and flicking him on the head.
"Don't talk like that!" She reprimanded him as Blaine chuckled at the couple.
"Come on, guys, we're back with the Beatles!" Mr. Schue announced as he walked inside and everyone moved to take their seats. "We're leaving the mop-tops behind and moving into their experimental years. Now, the Rubber Soul album marked a turning point for the group, where they literally and figuratively let their hair down. Now, the Beatles were the biggest musical act in the world. They could have remained in their comfort zones, but instead, they risked everything to explore new musical worlds. They had something important to say, and they weren't going to let something as silly as the fear of failure get in their way."
"Good afternoon, McKinley High." Principal Sylvester's voice rang through the speakers then, causing Mr. Schue to stop talking to listen to her instead. "This year, the proms are being fused into one giant Brundleprom."
"What's a Brundleprom?" Ryder mumbled, confused. "I don't get that reference."
"And now for the moment that will crush 99% of your misguided views about your own popularity." Principal Sylvester continued. "Here are your nominees for Prom King and Queen. First, here are your nominees for Prom King: Blaine Anderson, Mohamed Omar, Artie Abrams, Sam Evans."
Everyone cheered congratulating their nominees, Emily leaning over to Sam to place a kiss to his cheek in celebration.
"And now onto the Queen." Principal Sylvester continued, as Sam reached over to grab Emily's hand, fully aware his girlfriend would be nominated as well.
"Please let it be me, God..." Emily heard Tina mumbling from the seat behind hers. "Please let it be me, Yahweh, please let it be me.
"Emily Marshall..." Principal Sylvester said as Sam smiled at Emily, squeezing her hand in his. "Aimee Ryan, Jordan Stern. And, inexplicably, Tina Cohen-Chang."
"Yes! Yes!" Tina cheered as everyone clapped for her. "Yes! Yes! Oh, my God, yes!"
"Tina. Wow!" Ryder smiled as he got up from his chair to look at Tina who was already happy-dancing in the middle of the choir room. "Even though I'm not nominated, it's such an honor to be going to prom with a potential queen."
Emily smiled at the boy, but that smile soon faded when Tina frowned at him for a second.
"Oh... Sorry, Ryder. It was so nice of you to offer to go with me, but I'm going to have to decline your invitation."
"But you already accepted." Ryder frowned, as Emily raised an eyebrow at her friend's attitude.
"Yeah, Tina, this is very uncool." Blaine pointed out.
"Losing is uncool." Tina glared at him. "I need to maximize my odds of taking the crown, so I think I'm going to go with a group of single gals to corner the dejected wallflower vote. And I am going for it. This is my chance to be bigger than Jesus... So can I count on all your votes?"
