Damien
"It's you. It's always you."

LOVE IS THE most confusing and infuriating thing. It makes you do things you never thought you would. It just feeds into your head and heart - taking every second of your time and the thing is, even if you try to ignore or forget it, you can't. Once you are in love, you are. There is nothing you can do about it.
And Damien knew about it very well. How could he not? He had been in love with the same woman since he first saw her. And that was two years, forty-eight days and about, thirty-three minutes ago.
It's funny how he kept a tab on the moment he first saw her. But he knew that he had to - it was the only thing that kept him sane.
She was wearing a red dress that hugged her every curve just perfectly, her grey eyes brewing a storm and her red seductive lips attracting him to an extent that she just wanted to kiss the life out of her.
She was beautiful even without trying and she was the reason why Damien lost that damn Russian deal. But looking at it now, he doesn't regret it. He didn't regret meeting her at all.
And the months that she had spent with him were the most amazing throughout his life.
Damien has always lived a lonely life - his parents were there, but still not there for him and love? That was the last thing on his mind back then. He was satisfied with usual hookups but never thought of actually settling down.
But Kiara Kapoor flipped his thoughts by a mere eye contact from the other end of the bar and he couldn't control his legs when they stood up from the ongoing meeting and walked towards her. Kiara didn't even watch him approach - she was too busy with her phone. She didn't order anything and looked quite young.
When he was near her, he got the perfect view. She was fair - with black hair that had some natural brown highlights. And she smelled like sweet lavender. An intoxicating smell that got him hooked him up then and there. The time stopped for him when she looked up and her eyes met his.
"And how can I help you?" she had asked him, a smirk on her face.
Damien knew that he was dealing with fire - but a little burn won't hurt him.
"You have, actually. I don't demand much - your presence is enough," he replied as he took a seat next to her.
"You know, that seat was reserved for someone else," she replied, irritation laced in her voice but Damien could see the amusement in her eyes.
"I don't see anyone and it's a free country, so I can sit anywhere I want to. Especially besides a lady as gorgeous as you," he said, a smirk appearing on his face.
"That lady can hit you where the sun doesn't shine and so hard that you become incapable of having kids. And she would rise as a saviour - the world will have fewer idiots like you," she replied.
A huge grin appeared on Damien's face. There was something about her attitude that excited him.
"Well, you bruise my man ego. Now, as an apology may I treat the lady a drink?" he asked.
He really hoped that she would say yes. He wanted to get to know her. There was just something about her.
"The lady is still sixteen and would very much not like a drink," she replied.
Sixteen! Damien knew she looked young but he wouldn't peg her to be a sixteen-year-old. The way she held herself and her voice - it sounded so mature and wise. She was in no way a kid.
"And what's a teenager like you doing in a bar like this? How did you even get in?" he asked, intrigued.
"This teenager has her connections and influence to get in anywhere she wants to. And whatever I am doing here is none of your business, mister," she replied.
She gets up, gathering her purse from the table. Damien couldn't let go of her - not now, not ever. He knew that their story was far from over and he would search the hell and heaven for her.
"Does this pretty face have a name?" he asked.
She looked at him, amusement filled in her eyes and then and there Damien knew that he was a goner. Those grey eyes will now never leave his dreams.
She walked closer to him, and his breathing hitched. Her close presence was racing his mind and he couldn't even think straight.
"The name is Kiara," she whispered in his ears and with a wink, she walked away from him.
And since then, every day, at precisely five in the evening they will meet in the same bar - her waiting for someone who never showed up and him wanting to just be in her presence.
And the adventures they had together - road tripping to Italy just because Kiara wanted to eat pizza from a particular place, breaking into schools to write stupid stuff on boards, chatting about ridiculous things and whatnot. She made him feel alive.
She made him realize what it feels like to be cared for.
Even though she might deny it now, Damien knew that she cared for him. How she would stay up late at night listening to him rant about his day, how she would stand by him when he felt deflated. How she would be the reason for the smile on his face. How she would make him laugh.
Damien missed those days.
His phone rang and he checked the caller id. It was a private number and he knew who it belonged to. He picked up the phone.
"What have you got?" he asked, knowing that there was no need for formalities.
"She got him killed, boss. So, I dug deeper and found out that he was her father's ally. When her father died - he suddenly got millions of dollars and men. I have my doubts that he along with the others on the list got Kapoor killed." the voice answered.
Damien sighed. He now knew the main reason why she met him. She had used him to get closer to the jerk Gupta. Damien was naive back then, but he changed.
When she walked out on him, she walked away with his heart.
And Damien hated being used.
"Also, my sources tell that the Gupta is onto Kapoor. I think he knows what she did, the mole in her group sold her off to him as he did to me. And it doesn't look good, sir." the person informed him.
Damien cut off the connection then. He knew that Kiara is a strong woman and a great fighter. But she is new to this world - and she isn't too powerful to handle Gupta. She doesn't have enough firepower as well as men.
Kiara might have tried to keep her team intact but there is always a mole. Always a person who sells the boss off for money. And that person had bought hell upon Kiara.
Damien knew that he could handle Gupta with a snap of his fingers - he was the mafia, he was the don of New York. He knew about Abhishek Kapoor and his family very well. That's why he had no doubts that Kiara was his daughter. She was more like her father than she tried to hide.
But his mind was elsewhere - she had used him. His anger was genuine and you don't want to mess with Damien when he was angry.
But he can't let her go. He refuses to.
Even though she was someone's else - she was his Kiara.
And he would do anything for her.

All I gotta say here is - if it's meant to be, it will be. What will Damien do now?
