(The next day, 6:30 AM)

Light peeked in through the slight gap in the curtains and shined in Hongjoong's closed eyes. He scrunched up his nose and rolled over onto his other side. Luna jumped up onto the bed and stalked her way towards Hongjoong. She sat close to his face and leaned down, letting out a little meow. She pawed at his cheek and moved her face closer to the human's, booping his nose with her cold one. She meowed again but a little louder and Hongjoong's eyes fluttered open. He squinted at the clock.

"Kitty, why are you waking me up at half past 6?" He pouted and the cat jumped on him. He let out a sigh.

"Why don't you go back to your actual owner?" Hongjoong rolled over onto his back which caused Luna to fall off him and she landed on the bed. She jumped onto the male's stomach and got comfortable on that spot. Hongjoong lifted his hand to pet her. She purred and leaned into the touch.

He laid there for a couple of minutes before getting up. Luna let out a squeak as she fell onto her back which made Hongjoong giggle at how cute she looked.

He got out of bed then walked into the kitchen to make breakfast and a cup of coffee. Luna rushed after him. She jumped up onto the bench and sat down, her big eyes looking at the male. She meowed loudly and Hongjoong turned his head to look at her.

"You hungry?"

She meowed again. He turned back around and tapped on the bench with his nails.

"I don't know what demon cats eat," he hummed in thought and turned to face the cat who is cleaning herself. "Because you're not a normal cat, I don't think it will harm you if I feed you bacon."

He got to work making bacon, eggs and toast as he waited for the coffee.

"I need to go shopping," Hongjoong said with a sigh after shutting the fridge door, a nearly empty carton of milk in his hand and a small tub of butter in his other hand.

After cooking breakfast, Hongjoong put the food on a plate and sat down on one of the stools. Luna pawed at the air and Hongjoong smiled.

"The bacon is too hot, just wait for a few minutes, okay?" The cat meowed.

By the time he finished his food, the bacon was cooled down enough so he fed little bits to Luna and the cat happily ate the food.

"I guess you like bacon," Hongjoong smiled and the cat licked his fingers.

"I'm starting to think she likes you more," Seonghwa whispered into the human's ear, causing him to jump and he spun around in his seat. He stared wide-eyed at the demon and his heart hammered against his ribs.

"S-Seonghwa," he said in surprise, not expecting the demon to show up after last night... Hongjoong hated Seonghwa for putting him through so much pain. He glared at the demon who grinned.

"I'm guessing you don't like me that much after last night, hm?"

Hongjoong turns around, his back now facing the demon. "What do you think, asshole?" He muttered and Seonghwa chuckled.

"There's no need to call me names, my little human."

Hongjoong rolled his eyes. He stood up and faced the other man.

"You tortured me! Left me on my bed with blood-soaked sheets and the fucking police show up!"

Seonghwa lifts a hand to push a strand of hair back from Hongjoong's forehead and the shorter male smacked his hand away. The demon chuckles. "Well, you should've been a little quieter, Joongie."

"Quieter!? You shouldn't have done what you did in the first place!"

Luna was looking back and forth between the two.

"You agreed to do whatever I wanted."

"Yeah, well, don't be so harsh next time! It really hurt!"

Seonghwa's grin grew wider. "I like your feistiness."

Hongjoong's face flushed red and he crossed his arms over his chest. "You broke my fucking bone, fucker."

"I'm a demon, little human. I can hurt you as much as I want."

"You are an evil, mean, monster is what you are!"

In a blink of an eye, Seonghwa had a clawed hand wrapped around Hongjoong's throat and he lifted him onto the island so he was laying on his back. Luna meowed loudly and pawed at the air.

"DON'T YOU DARE call me a monster, you sad excuse of a human!" He shouted and his eyes turned fully black. Hongjoong gasped for air and his eyes were wide. He tried pulling the demon's claws away with both hands but the other squeezed harder.

"Don't make me angry, Hongjoong or I won't hesitate to make you scream like I did last night, but louder," he growls.

The human whimpers. "I-I'm sorry," he whispered.

"Speak to me like that again and let's see what happens," he lowered his voice.

Luna growled and hissed at her master who looked at her in shock.

"I-I-I'm s-so-sorry. P-please," Hongjoong stutters, tears filling his eyes. Seonghwa looked back at him and narrowed his eyes. That guilty feeling was back and it was making him angrier. He lifted the human off the table and dropped him on the ground. Hongjoong gasped and coughed as he held his neck.

The demon turned to glare at his cat and he points at her with a stern look. "Don't hiss or growl at me again or I'll feed you to the hellhounds, cat."

A little meow left Luna's mouth. Seonghwa stepped over Hongjoong before crouching down. He harshly grabbed the human's hair and pulled his head back making him whine from the pain. Shit, Seonghwa liked that little sound.

"Learn to control what leaves that mouth," he gripped his jaw, "or I'll rip your jaw off." he removed his hand from his face then gave Hongjoong's hair a tug which made him gasp. The demon let go of the soft strands and stood up. He disappears into the pentagram and tears finally rolled down Hongjoong's face.

Luna jumped off the kitchen bench and landed next to the male. She nudged his arm with her head and a sob escaped Hongjoong's mouth. The feline snuggled close to his chest and the man laid down, curled up in a ball while hugging her close.

"I hate him," he cried out.

———

Hongjoong was laying on the couch watching a show on Netflix with a blanket pulled up to his waist, gently petting Luna who was asleep next to his chest and her little purrs could be felt through Hongjoong's hoodie. His arm was propped up on a pillow and his head was resting on his hand.

It was weird to see Luna trying to prevent Hongjoong from being seriously hurt. She growled at her own master to help the human.

Unbelievable.

He let out a sigh and laid his head on the pillow. He put his hand under the blanket and ran his fingers over the scar on his leg which was now a little larger after last night.

Last night... last night was a mess. It was something he never thought he'd witness in his life and it was horrible getting a glimpse of Minjun's headless body slumped against the wall. He never wanted to see a body ever again.

Hongjoong glanced up at the clock hanging on the wall above his TV; 3:01 p.m. He looked back at the screen and closed his eyes.

If Hongjoong hadn't moved into this apartment, he wouldn't have to deal with a demon that torments him, he wouldn't have to feel bad about getting Minjun murdered even if the guy was annoying. Hongjoong didn't think he deserved to die. Not like that.

He slowly started to drift off, the sound of the TV growing faint as he fell asleep.
