"SO THIS IS USED TO CALL PEOPLE?"
It was a Thursday afternoon and Winnie and Steve were sitting inside his apartment. Winnie had come over to help Steve become adjusted with all the new technology that was used nowadays but it wasn't very easier, for either of them.
"Yes, Steve, it's called a mobile phone, phone for short," the White girl explained, "It's somewhat like the ones that we used to have in our apartment with the dial, remember? Just a lot more advanced from that."
His brow furrowed, "But it's so small; it can fit in my hand and it doesn't have all the other parts!"
Winnie laughed at his confused expression. "That's because technology is more advanced than you remember, Grandpa."
"You're the same age as me!"
"And yet I look like I'm in my twenties," she winked, giving Steve a big grin.
Steve let out an exhausted puff of air as he rubbed his eyes with the back of his hands. All this new technology was tiring to work out, let alone so difficult for him to wrap his head around. Sure, it was all exciting to learn about but he liked it how it used to be, or as they now call it, old-school.
"Is there anything else we could do instead?" the Rogers man asked, bored from trying to work the phone.
"Well, we could watch something?" she suggested, "I mean, there are decades worth of movies that you haven't seen and not to toot my own horn but I am quite cultured in the film industry."
The Rogers man nodded his head, agreeing to her idea. He loved movies, it was one of the main things that he, Winnie and Bucky all did together, so it was nice to get to do that again, even if it meant there was one of them missing.
Winnie rushed excitedly, grabbing the remote on the coffee table and logging in to her Netflix account. As she flicked through the many movies and TV shows, she pointed out the different movies that she thought would be a good one for him to watch, telling Steve what they were about.
Eventually, after a lot of movies and descriptions, Steve made the choice of watching a movie called 'Feris Bueller's Day Off,' which made Winnie grin with joy at the pick. It was one of her favourite movies.
Together they watched one of the greatest films in history, laughing at all the little jokes and embarrassing moments. There were a few times that Winnie did have to explain to Steve the joke due to his lack of knowledge.
Winnie was even able to get Steve to get up and dance to the song 'Twist and Shout' by the Beatles when the song came on. It was almost like they were back in that small apartment that they had, laughing with one another, enjoying each other's company.
Every so often, one of them would think about what their lives used to be, back before everything went down and how they missed it, especially Winnie, she's had to live without the two most important people in her life for decades.
"Do you ever think back to when it was just the three of us in that small apartment?" Steve asked out of the blue. It was safe to say that Winnie wasn't really expecting the question, especially due to her expression. "You don't have to answer that. I'm sorry-"
"No, no, it's fine," Winnie smiled sadly. "Yeah, I do. A lot actually. I didn't for a while before you.. Uh, woke up. I didn't even really think about all of it for about a decade or two.. Not on purpose of course just.. I.. I guess I was kind of forgetting.
