You hadn't even noticed the sound of the door closing as you sat on the floor with your knees pulled up to your chest. You sat there slowly rocking back and forth, staring at the wall in front of you. You didn't even hear the footsteps approaching you, all you could do was stare at the wall blankly.
"Oh honey." Jimmy whispered softly, placing his stuff on the chair before squatting down behind you. He sat on the floor with his legs straight out in front of him. Pulling you onto his lap, his calloused fingers wiped the tears from your cheeks. When had you been crying?? You were still in such a daze it all didn't seem to be happening. Your brain was whirling and cloudy as Jimmy tried to talk you down to earth.
"Y/N? What happened?"
All you did was shake your head, words tried to escape your lips but nothing came out.
"I know, I know."
Jimmy gently stroked your hair, pulling your head to his shoulder. Eventually you could bring your hand up and wrap your arm around his neck, inhaling his cigarette scent. It made you feel warm and clear your mind just a little bit. He rested his chin on the top of your head and began to hum, the room was silent except for your soft sobs and his gentle humming.
To be completely honest at this time you couldn't remember what drove you to this, but your mind can play sick tricks on you so here you are in your boyfriend's arm on the floor of your apartment with a racing heart and a swirling head.
"I always love you darling, and I mean it."
The only noise you could make was a high pitched whimper, which made Jimmy hold you tighter. Placing a hand on your cheek, he brought your face off his shoulder so he could look at you.
"Y/N, look at me. Just try to calm down honey, take a deep breath."
Nervously you started to inhale deeply, looking at Jimmy's dark eyes.
"Exhale, it's okay."
You continued to slowly breath until your heart stopped racing and the tears began to dry up. Laying your head back on Jimmy's shoulder he held you close, your eyes began to gradually droop.
