Chapter 34 - Changing gears

I'm not quite happy with the chapter title, but it will do till I come up with another to replace it. With that said here's the next chapter.

"You mean Squalo... Realized the fight was staged" (Genkishi)

"Yup that's right." (Takeshi)

"What basis do you have for saying that?" (Genkishi)

Aaaannnnnndd there it is the arrogance of the swordsman appears, just as I shove my emotions aside real or imagined... to deal with later... Much later. That aside the flaw that all swordsmen have no matter how 'humble' they are, that no one is better than they are and that they stand at the top. That arrogance is not showing on Genkishi's face but you can see it in his eyes, that his pride has been hurt by the fact his faking has been exposed and that has brought out his arrogance. It is said that arrogance is often refusal to see the reality of a fact; Genkishi is a text book example of this with his eye's and his words which signals that this fight is upping another gear.

"Impossible. He had no doubts about his victory at all. I don't know what you're planning but.... I'll warn you just once. Your sword is on the verge of crumbling." (Genkishi)

"....... Indeed in its current condition.... One swing would cause it to shatter. But" (Takeshi)

"!" (Genkishi)

Takeshi lights his ring whilst looking at his sword before taking a stance, just as he rushes forward with his sword in a two handed pre-swing grip he calls out.

"YOU SHOULD KNOW THE TRUTH TOO!!" (Takeshi)

As Takeshi reaches Genkishi their swords clash and instead of the crack riddled sword shattering, the illusion placed on the sword does in its place which cause not only Genkishi's eye's to widen while they banter Chromes does too.

"Hime... I didn't sense the illusion.... I'm sorry." (Chrome)

"Oh honey I wouldn't worry over something like that, you know yourself that the smaller the illusion the easier it is to pull off. Unlike you or Mukuro this guy is half assed in his illusions, you or Mukuro would have simulated the loss in weight with the damage he however..." (Aloy)

"Either doesn't know how to or hoped it would be enough to fool Takeshi san?" (Chrome)

"Good guess Chrome and I'd say it's the former as if it isn't the sword this guy half asses everything, it seems even finding something to wholeheartedly believe in enough to turn traitor isn't enough to cure that.... Even Squalo with his attitude problems is more professional about things." (Aloy)

"Hime...." (Chrome)

"Oh I know Chrome I'll keep my cool..... Besides if I lost my shit now both Aria and Gamma would tear into me, as I am an outsider when it comes to that matter if they found out." (Aloy)

I shudder at the thought of being scolded by those two over that subject.... Hell back in our time Aria treats me like a little sister so it's almost guaranteed I'd get a scolding, oh not at taking the traitor out like I insinuated they would but because he's 'dangerous'... Since I've become an Arcobaleno I've been treated like Royalty, it's only a matter of time till my getting a hangnail gets treated like a national emergency.... Chrome goes to open her mouth looking like I've missed the point.... I haven't have I? Anyway just as she goes to open her mouth the two fighters separate with Genkishi leaping backwards, as he lands he struggles to stay upright and his eyes practically go dot-like in shock.

"Your entire body is starting to feel dull, isn't it? That's because my strike was a strengthened version, infused with the rains 'tranquillity' flame." (Takeshi)
