"i was lost, i was golden, silence is knowing, when to stop the voices in your head" - Silence is Golden / A Step Ahead

I opened my laptop and stared at the screen for what felt like the fifth time that morning. I was sitting at the counter in the kitchen, taking advantage of the fact that I had the apartment to myself while Luke and Calum went to grab some breakfast. I was more than grateful for the peace and quiet, because I was pretty much tired of Cal being in our apartment at this point. It had been three whole days, and there was still no mention of when he was going to go back to Boston.
The contact information for a local doctor was staring at me from my screen. I had been working up the nerve to dial the phone number all morning, knowing that making that call made it so much more real. And besides the panic, I felt so guilty for not having told Luke yet. He had as much right to know as I did, and to be involved in this from the very beginning. All I wanted was for Calum to leave so we could handle this situation together, and privately.
On top of everything else, I just felt like the weight of this secret was back-breaking. I so badly wanted someone else to know, at least so I didn't feel like all the responsibility was pushed onto me. If Calum didn't leave soon, I knew for a fact that I was going to break.
I finally picked up my phone and started dialing the first few numbers for the doctor's office. Before I could finish, Luke and Calum burst back through the door, laughing about God knows what. I quickly shut my laptop and locked my phone, beating myself up for not having just done this earlier.
Luke sauntered over to the counter, giving me a quick kiss on the top of the head, "A bagel for you, my love."
I gave him a gracious smile, "Thanks, I'm starving."
Luke nodded, "Yeah, of course. I'm just glad you got your appetite back and seem to be feeling better. I was a little worried there for a few days."
I kept a silent smile on my face, just nodding in agreement. Little did he know that I had just barely stopped vomiting in the bathroom before he got back. He really had been oblivious the past few days, at least to the sheer amount of trips to the bathroom I was making. I knew I couldn't blame him, though. I was the one hiding things from him. Looking at him with a stupid grin on his face, I so badly wanted to just spill everything right that second.
Calum spoke then, shattering any hope I had of having a serious talk, "I think that was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. We should for sure go back there later this week."
I had just taken a bite of my bagel, and almost spit it back out on the counter. I tried to recover quickly, "Later this week, huh? I didn't realize you were planning on staying that long."
Calum shrugged, "Yeah, I don't think I want to head back to Boston yet. I still haven't talked to Michael, he's still being a prick. Besides, Luke told me that it was cool if I stayed a little longer."
I shot daggers at Luke, but he wasn't even looking in my direction. He just chuckled, "Aw, c'mon man, you can't just throw me under the bus like that. I told you I was going to talk it out with Violet when we got back."
He finally looked over at me, face falling slightly when he saw the look on my own face. He leaned onto the counter on his elbows, "I mean, it is okay, right? Just a few more days, and then he'll head back home. I just wanna help him out."
