"I guess in a way... The plan worked." I say, in Olivia's coffee shop on the second floor. Olivia was on break and sat beside Dani, the two across from me. It was early in the morning and I met up to have brunch with them here. The place had really good food, and a great morning atmosphere.
Olivia squealed, "That is SOOOO cute, oh my god!" She held her mug in her hands and close to her chest, Winter was just around the corner as most of the leaves were no longer their pretty shades of fall but brown for winter.
Dani smiled, "About damn time, I called it the day I met you two."
I scoff, "Sure."
"Oh nono, I did. Peter was so obvious."
I roll my eyes playfully, eating my egg sandwich.
"Well, what happened after that?"
My face warms, "Nothing crazy."
"Did you guys cuddle?!???" Olivia asks, giddy.
I sip my coffee and nod a little, feeling embarrassed. I've never really talked about intimate stuff with other people... It just felt weird. In all honesty, this was still new to me. This felt nothing like Eddie and I... It felt real... That's what I was afraid of but... I need to get over it... I really like Peter... So much... I wish he was here now, but he left early in the morning. I pretended to still be sleeping but I saw him leave. Whenever he is gone, doubt comes into my mind. Like we're going to fall apart together... But whenever we're together my doubt disappears. That has to mean something. He held me so close last night...
"We should go on a double date!" Olivia says, wrapping her arms around Dani's and shaking her a little, Dani almost spilt her drink to which Olivia giggled.
I smile, "Maybe later."
"Oh yeah! No rush! You guys need to focus on the two of you. Ooooh this is so exciting!" Olivia smiled brightly and it was contagious.
We started talking about other things before Dani and I headed to the library to get some homework done. Although New York was now filled with dead plants and cold wind, I've never felt so happy. There was a new feeling to my step. In the middle of my studies, I found myself daydreaming. I make it back home at 5:00 PM, and read a book in my room, I lay on my stomach on my bed as I read. After a few hours I get a knock on my window, I look up from my book and see Peter with a smile. I laughed a little before getting up and going to the window, he was in his Spider-Man suit but held his mask in his hand. I open the window, "Yes?"
"Hey." He smiled brightly, I don't think I've ever seen him this happy... "Uh-heh, you wanna see something?" He asks, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
I raise an eyebrow, "I don't know, do I?"
"It's a bit of a ride." He joked, leaning closer to me.
I think a moment before smiling, "You better not drop me." I start to climb out of my window, he offers a hand to help me.
"Never." He grinned, slipping his mask back on with his free hand. I put my arms around his neck and jumped up, wrapping my legs around him. He puts one hand on my waist, gripping tightly before he swinged up into the city. I tried to keep my eyes open but I ended up closing them and hiding my face in Peter's shoulder. I feel it getting higher and my stomach feels like it's in a not before I finally feel Peter land on solid ground. I let go of him, my feet reaching the ground gently. Opening my eyes he quickly puts his hands over them, "Wait! Not yet, one second. Don't peak."
I make a face with my eyes closed, "okaaaayy."
He comes back to me and scoots me forward a little, moving my shoulders playfully and I laugh lightly as he does so."Ok... You can look."
When I open my eyes I'm shocked... We were high over New York, on top of one of the tallest buildings it seemed. On the ledge was a picnic blanket with a basket that held wine and glasses and other things. There were two candles to the side that were on the verge of blowing out from the wind. But the thought was there.
"I hope you didn't have dinner yet." He says.
I look back at him and see him in a brown trench coat over his suit, along with sweatpants, his mask in the pocket of them hanging out. I was also in sweatpants and a T-shirt. "You did all this?"
He tilted his head, "Just something I pulled together." He said in a fake confident tone. I laugh lightly, "It's amazing."
"It's the best place I could find."
I walk over to the ledge, Peter following behind. I sit down on one side and he sits to the other side of me. Popping open the wine before pouring it into both of our glasses. I look over the city, never seeing such a beautiful view as I sipped my red wine.
"How was your day?" He asks, looking out at the city with me.
"It was good... I basically hung out with Dani all day. What about you?"
"I went to my new job... I really like it, but I had to leave early cause—you know." He shrugs.
"What did Spider-Man do today?" I look over at him, tilting my head.
He looks back at me, "Took down a few of Hammerhead's bases."
"Any closer to him?"
"Yeah... I'd say so."
We continue to talk, drink, and eat. Able to talk about anything and everything. When we finished the dinner he had prepared, I put the basket down off the ledge, filling the space it had left; Peter did the same.
"I don't know... I think if I had to choose one, I suppose I'd have to say go to London. I've always wanted to go."
Peter nods, "Me too."
"Wait, question: when do you do school? You're busy all the time." I furrow my eyebrows playfully.
"Weeeelllll, I skip a few classes."
"Of course, you probably don't even need them."
He laughs, turning his head to me, "I haven't really been the best student since all this." He gestures to the city, but I knew he was referring to Spider-Man.
"You put too much pressure on yourself."
"What do you mean?"
I shrug, looking away: "I don't know..."
There's a pause before he says softly, "You look beautiful."
"Therefore I have value?"
His face portrayed his turn to panic, "Nonono I-"
I laugh a little, "I'm kidding..." I then bump my shoulder with his, "You look beautiful too."
He pauses before recovering and rolling his eyes playfully, "Funny."
"I know."
We sit in silence for a bit and I lean onto his shoulder, he leans his head back on mine and we sit there... Without any care in the world... All that mattered was the two of us... Suddenly, it wasn't so scary...
