Fred Weasley was a man who would take on any dare. Prank Snape? Done. Drink an entire bottle of fire whisky? Done. Be out past curfew? He does that every night as it is but when Katie Bell dared him to ask you out he instantly refused. It wasn't that he didn't want to ask you on a date, everyone knew that but he didn't want it to be because of a stupid dare. Just imagine everything goes well, you start dating, and then you find it was a dare that started it all. It would break your heart and make everything seem so fake. Although everyone viewed Fred as one of the duo team of pranking kings at Hogwarts, he'd much rather prefer to just be known as the guy who won you over.
"Come on Fred, you can't be sure how many more Hogmedes trips we'll have this year. You need to ask them". Pestered Angelina. Fred began to think it over. Sadly his teammates were right. The year would be coming to an end soon and another summer would pass with no contact with you unless he did something. "They like you. We all can tell. Please just hurry up with it". George begged. Over the years he had to listen to Fred's non stop rambles about the way you looked, how you acted or whatever you had done that day in particular to make Fred want to discuss you with his poor twin.
By the morning Fred had made up his mind, he was going to ask you on a date today, not tomorrow, not next week, today. All he could hope for was a yes from you and that his nerves wouldn't get in the way of his plans.
Too involved with his own thoughts, Fred ran right into you. "Oh god, I'm sorry I wasn't- oh hi y/n". Fred began to apologize. "Hello Freddie, are you doing okay?". You responded to your overly distracted crush. "Yup, yup, perfectly fine. Uh hey y/n are you by any chance are you free this upcoming Hogsmede trip?". Fred stuttered his way through his sentence, the fear that you'd get the wrong idea or say no suddenly took over his body. "It's your lucky day Freddie because for once I am free. No studying for me! Do you want to go to our usual places or try somewhere different?". Fred then realized he had hung out with you alone on so many occasions going the same way, making the best memories, and enjoying each other's company. Why in the world did he get so nervous? "Same as always! I just want to spend some more time with you before the summer." Fred flashed his award winning smile that brought butterflies to your stomach in an instance. Maybe you should make you move before the upcoming break? "Alright Freddie it's a date. I'll see you this weekend!". You began to walk away leaving Fred in shock. "Wait y/n! A date?". You turned around and stared at him. "Isn't it always an unofficial date with us? We're gonna graduate soon ya know. It's time for a real date my good sir!". Fred grinned and ran at you, lifting you up in the process. The laughter coming from the two of you displayed true joy and happiness for all to see. "FINALLY". A chorus of your friends yelled from a far, watching the entire encounter. "Looks like our ship is finally sailing".
