Luna Lovegood x Reader
Always by my Side
Warning: Bullying

Walking throughout the castle on a lazy snow filled day was peaceful to say the least. These days were no longer common due to the nearing finals you had to study for and the constant torment you had to endure from your classmates. To say you were a little strange was an understatement to say the least. Although having a friend just as strange as you made things a lot easier. Luna and you had practically clung to each other upon entering Hogwarts. You thought back to your first conversation with a younger Luna. After being sorted the two of you made your way next to each other at the Ravenclaw table. Older students and perfects greeted you making you feel as if you had already found your new family, a home away from home. You couldn't help but overhear Luna make a comment about nargles and instantly let out a sigh of relief. Finally someone who understood the true creatures lying in the world to ruin it. "Did you say Nargles?" You taped Luna's shoulder and questioned whether or not you'd heard correctly. "I did, do you know what they are?" An unexpectedly dreamy voice came out of her and you nodded your head almost aggressively at the pale girl in front of you. From that point on you two were never apart. You sighed to yourself as you leaned up against a pillar of the castle. It felt so long yet so recent when things were simple between you two. Despite all efforts to not fall in love with your best friend over the years you both fortunate yet unfortunately had fallen hard for Luna. How could you not? She never let the bullying get to her. She believed in things others wouldn't and never bothered trying to push her beliefs on others, she only gave them a different way of looking at the world and waited to see if they wanted that outlook or not. More often they just assumed her weird. Whilst lost in your thoughts you didn't hear the clicks of her shoes coming up behind you until it was too late. Her hands gripped your waist giving you a startle. "Luna!" She giggled at your reaction. "Hello y/n. Enjoying the snow day?" You let out a sigh followed by a gentle smile as you looked upon the girl standing in front of you. "I love the cold but hate being unable to warm up" you groaned out your complaint which Luna already knew. "Shall we get some hot chocolate and spend the rest of the day by the fire until our blanket reading then?" You blinked at Luna. It seemed she had planned the entire rest of the day for the two of you. She tilted her head almost like an owl whilst awaiting your response. "That sounds amazing". Luna jumped happily and clapped her hands. "Excellent! Let's see if Dobby will get those for us". The two of you made your way to the kitchen, making sure not to alert anyone as students were technically not allowed inside yet tons had orders to make throughout the weekend. After a short conversation with Dobby the two of you made your way to the Ravenclaw tower. Luna answered the riddle allowing both of you to step inside. "I can never get the riddles, good thing you're always with me." Lune smiled. You went to your room to grab the shared blanket that Luna had called 'our blanket' over the years. Luna grabbed the books you both were currently reading from each of your bedside tables. Being roommates meant you two knew where all of your items were if you needed to share it or if something was simply missing due to your other less than nice roommates. Luna sat first holding the books and drinks in her hands as you placed the blanket over the two of you and sat close to Luna's side. She handed over your drink and book while you muttered out a thank you. The comfortable silence that falls over you both gives you a rush of happiness. Moments like this made it even harder for you to deny your feelings. Imagining a future where doing this in the evenings with Luna made you smile. You stole a glance at Luna who had her nose deep inside her current romance story. As you returned to your story the opening to the tower swung open with a group of loud Ravenclaw climbing through. "Would you look at that. It's the weirdo's." One boy pointed at your both. You looked up at him yet Luna continued to ignore them. "Don't point. At least they have each other. Gives them a way to try out all the weird sex fantasy they probably have". A tall girl threw a disgusted look your way. The group bursted into cackles after her comment. With a sigh you closed your book but Luna stopped you, placing a hand on your arm not once looking up Luna utter the words "Kindly leave me and my significant other alone if you don't mind. We're trying to read". The group stared in shock but left. Your mouth was slightly open as you stared at Luna. Surely it was just a way to get others to leave you alone right? Luna couldn't possibly think you were dating, right ? "Luna um we're-" Luna stared up at you in confusion till realization rushed over her face. "Oh no did I forget to ask you out properly? I'm sorry somethings it's hard to tell the difference between dreams and reality. Well then." She stood up in front of you with a smile. "Y/n y/ln will you please do me the honor of being my partner?" You jumped up, squeezing Luna tightly in a bear hug. "Obviously!". The two of you hugged for what felt like forever until a quick peck to the nose and head led you to sit back on the couch, blanket over your legs, books in hand and each other's hand being held by the other. Luna leaned her head slightly against yours, happy that she finally could call you her own.
