I watched y/n eagerly run through the halls of the castle. The amount of energy such a small girl could hold at 8 in the morning on a Saturday after a long quidditch match never ceased to shock me. A smile rose upon my face. She was so fearless and energetic paired with being both kind and beautiful. We made our way outside towards the forbidden forest to join the likes of our rambunctious group of friends. He laughter rang out in the air as she jumped over a rock right on the edge of the forest. 'Hey y/n can you be careful?'. I had to admit I was worried she'd end up hurting herself though that was always a worry concerning her within my mind. Right as I finished speaking Sirius and Peter came into sight with Lily and James close behind them being their adorable couple self. Y/n stopped and turned to smile wide at me. God that smile could cure any pain in my whole body. 'Ah Remmy, relaxxxxx. I never get hurt. I'm too awesome for that'. She stuck out her tongue at me and joined the group. A chuckle rose from deep in my throat. Her humor was one of the first things I recognized about her and of course it ended up being the thing that made me fall in love with her.
We walked through the cold forest reminiscing in all our memories from our seven years at hogwarts. The holidays would be coming up soon then graduation which we all couldn't help but feel a little sad about. Y/n walked beside Lily ahead of us. To my knowledge they were talking about how much fun Lily would have spending the holidays with James this year. 'So Remus, when you gonna tell y/n you love her. I mean after all, schools almost over.' Sirius was always blunt about my feelings for y/n. He spoke quiet enough to keep his words out of range of y/n. 'Yeah I mean come on, we all know she loves you too or at least likes your nerdy ass'. James slapped a hand on my shoulder and finished his words with a chuckle. 'Guys come on.. I'm just waiting for the right moment'. They both gave each other a knowing glance and sighed in unison. I've been repeating that line for the past three years and I know better than anyone that I've had numerous perfect moments but always chickened out. We neared a clearing in the forest and all sat down together in a circle to pass the time and make more memories. Of course Sirius decided a game of truth or dare would be perfect and everyone but Lily and myself agreed. 'Oh come on Remmy, it'll be fun this time I promise'. It was never fun but that damn smile could convince me to do anything so we played. The fifth time around was when everything was getting more spicy. Y/n choose dare every time to my displeasure while I almost always choose truth. 'Okay okay, y/n truth or dare?'. She of course picked dare once again. 'Alright dare you to climb that tree over there'. She flashed a huge grin and instantly got up to start to climb. The boys were cheering her on while Lily and I worried and told her repeatedly to be careful. 'Aw don't you two trust me?'. Right as y/n finished that phrase she went to grab a tree branch that, even I'll admit, looked sturdy. She was high up but as soon as she gripped the branch it broke. Sirius got to her before I did and managed to catch her but we all realized she wasn't okay. Her arms were covered in scratches and it looked like her shoulder was dislocated. Quickly we rushed her up to the castle to get her looked at.
After about an hour y/n had settled into a bed in the hospital wing where she'd be spending the weekend. Her shoulder was set back into place but her cuts were all deep and needed time to heal. After a while everyone left but I stayed behind. She fell asleep from some medicine so I assumed she couldn't hear me. 'Why do you have to be so fearless all the damnit time. One of these days you're going to give me a heart attack. God y/n I don't know what I do without your foolish self.' Y/n squirmed in her bed and mumbled something. When I looked up I was met with her breath taking stare and that wonderful smile. 'Come now Remmy, don't you trust me? What kinda person would I be to leave the guy I love all alone without me to annoy'. At first I didn't process the last part of her sentence and laughed then it dawned on me. 'Y/n... you love me?'. She stuck her tongue out at me and mumbled a quiet of course. I grinned and held her hand. 'Love you too dork'. She laughed at my sarcastic tone but knew i meant it. After awhile we both fell asleep holding hands smiling but what we didn't know was that all our friends were waiting outside the doors grinning ear to ear from just seeing our sweet exchange of I love you. Of course we got shit for it later though.
